With the lights on this bridge, Adelaide Oval under lights and the SAHMRI gleaming away in the background, the Morphett St Bridge view is gonna look amazing after the completion of the Stage 1 Redevelopment of the Convention Centre!

Lighting v impressive. The whole thing FAR better than when I first imagined . The bridge end areas a good location for an "Adelaide wheel' now.

I think something that could be done in the next few years is recladding of the Morphett St bridge with some contemporary panelling (perhaps that material which appears to change colour depending on the sunlight) and also lit up with LED feature lighting at night. I dont think it would be terribly expensive to do.

The whole riverbank area needs more lighting and wow factor at night. It's currently quite dark and doesn't feel safe at night.

Agreed.

Speaking of which, I'd support the restoration of King William Road Bridge, bring it back to it's former glory; similar to the Albert Bridge outside the Adelaide Zoo.

Seeing as the bridge will furthermore be subject to constant foot-traffic, I feel a tidy up would be appropriate (perhaps even prepare it for a potential tram-line that will one day cross it). Clearing tree's from it's northern end, and applying more modern glass railing for the pathways that pass underneath on both ends.

You realise the functionality that you speak of is only PART of the development? Most of the bells and whistles are unfinished and/or shine at night.

I travel along Memorial Drive every day to/from work and the volume of foot traffic on the (unfinished) bridge is constant at any time of day. A lot of the users seem to be tourists too. The claims by bridge opponents which still permeate the legacy media about the bridge only being used on "30 days of the year" etc etc are proved unfounded by the evidence. Really looking forward to the finished product, and especially the water features and the lighting. The handrail lights already bring the river alive at night.

It's a bit like money, it's not money that is interesting but what money can do. Same with the bridge, it opens up more possibilities.

A bridge with three big ticket features unfinished.

- cascading water feature, landscaping, stairs and bistro deck

- belvedere and waterfall

- programmable coloured lighting along the eastern side

Already looks brilliant from what I've seen in photos, but no point in passing judgement while it's a work in progress.

Does anybody know what's happened with the proposed sports stars being honoured on the bridge which was spoken about for so long a few months back doesn't even seem to get a mention any more?

Lola's Pergola on the redeveloped Riverside precinct has been a big Festival hit - great pics via The Guardian.
Adding more vibe and colour to the overall precinct, including the Footbridge and Adelaide Oval.
