that reminds me, about this time last year, there was a S-A drinks meet up at the Griffins Head. Is there one planned for this year, Howie?
Thanks jk :) I'm so excited to get back home!

Have fun at the Chrissy drinks everyone.

Get some history into ya.

The Right Honourable Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney, British Home Secretary

The Right Honourable William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

Major General Sir Thomas Brisbane, Governor of New South Wales

Her Majesty Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, Queen consort of the United Kingdom and of Hanover

Mr. Charles Robert Darwin

The Right Honourable Robert Hobart, 4th Earl of Buckinghamshire, Secretary of State for War and the Colonies

Perth is named after a town in Scotland, while Canberra is an Aboriginal word meaning "meeting place."

And the winner of the Smith's 'Do us a flavour' competition is...
Aline's Caesar Salad!
Anyone tried the others before the deadline? I've tried 'em all! :P

My Predictions for 2010:
* Massive Skyshow fireworks display on Mar 13. Rann parachutes into the event to the cheers of spectators
* Labor wins election - just. Independents get several seats - makes the govt work harder
* Construction of new RAH starts late in the year. S-A members chain themselves to the railway tracks in protest
* SA population growth is fastest ever seen
* Spire achieves sufficient pre-purchase levels to begin construction
* Plans for Adelaide Oval expansion delayed to 2012
* Desal plant suffers several months of start-up issues/delays
* Extremely high rainfall in murray/darling system - but lower lakes remain empty. SA blames VIC/NSW
* A reality TV show based on the lives of Outback Miners fails miserably (Title: Do you really want to dig?)
* VSQ redevelopment commences. Most S-A members unhappy with result ;-)
* Alexander Downer becomes next lord mayor
* ACC & surrounding councils build more bike lanes, and cycling starts to become truly popular
* CBD congestion tax implemented
* Govt announces Southern Expressway to be made bi-directional

Whatever happens, sure are interesting times ahead - Happy New Year to all

All I'll say is considering there's an election coming up, the Rann government will make ever effort to announce election promises for projects that won't even happen until after 2014. Consider it a vote of assurance. But I think the big thing next year will be Adelaide's catalyst from whinging backwater to development enterprise. Spire and Rundle cranes to dominate skyline. Victoria sqaure dug up into a big hole, Adelaide oval expanding, torrens footbridge u/c. It will be almost as if every street corner you walk in the city, something new will be happening. Bring on 2010!

Happy New Year 2010 Everyone!! I hope it will be much better than 2009!
Top 5 things I predict I'll be doing in 2010:
1. 3rd Queensland Trip
2. A trip to Darwin (my birthplace) on the Ghan
3. Riding through the suburbs on my push scooter
4. Ride the new trams to Hindmarsh
5. Enjoy using my new computer with Windows 7
