Melbourne doesn't have any 4-module section trams in service other than the one that was running around temporarily and is going back to Lisbon.

H-set runs are quite rare now, but a few peak hour runs are still done by a two coupled H-sets. I saw one at Wayville yesterday morning.

Coupled H class sets are generally needed only in the morning peak. These services are however on their last legs with Flexis 111 and 112 in preparation for revenue service. Once they are commissisioned, H class operation will be restricted to heritage services and emergency use only.

However, I have recieved word down the grapevine that H class have been permitted to run down the extension. Actually, my source got the word from the man at the top. Also, double H class on heritage services are the norm rather then the exception.

The tram line will be closed partially, but not because of the Victoria Square works. There are crossover works being undertaken this weekend at Glenelg East. Trams will still be operating, but only between Victoria Square and Stop 16. So Victoria Square will still be open.

Hmmmm, im not so sure about those overhead masts. They look awfully dominating. If theyre in the middle, why did so many trees have to be taken down?

There used to trees along the median strip of North Terrace before they took them out. As far as I am aware they also took out a few trees along the footpaths although I'm not aware of why, it may be related to recabling and wiring works or shifting other infrastructure around.

The trees that were removed at edges of the footpaths were taken out as they would of been two close to powerlines and in one case would of fouled the lines.

Another day of track laying, another load of photos.

While I was there, the work generally consisted of boting the rails down, checking rail height compared to Grote Street and also some concrete forming being made. The track in a couple of the lower quality photos, you can tell a 'lump' in the track.

As I was making my way back up King William Street, I noticed that some more catenary masts had been delivered.
