I have to hand it to them. They seem to be cracking on with the demolition a lot faster than I thought they would. It's only a very short time since the store ceased trading and already they're removing the roof! I thought it would be at least a couple of weeks for Harris scarfe to remove all their property and then internal demolition and site preparation works only for at least a couple of months.

I wonder how long they plan to take to complete demolition?

No activity on site today except for a large piece of air-conditioning plant being removed by a small crane in one of the side alleys. Here's some photos from Friday.

They're building a frame inside here for some reason


Anybody who knows about this sort of thing know why they're doing this?

I cant tell exactly where this photo is but I was under the impression that the Rundle Mall side would be the final part of the project, and that they are building multiple, temporary, individual shopfronts on the mall front that will be around for about a year, in the existing facade, so there will be minimum interuption to the mall. The Grenfell St side is getting demolished ASAP as this is stage 1. Im not 100% but thats what I heard and that may explain why the internal walls being built

I thought they might take some space in the Da Costa building for site admin, but could this ne what the stud walls are for?

I still think that some of the plans thrown around in 2009 to keep the facade would have been much better than just destroying it. Pity really but I know I'm out voted on that point of view...
