In comparison to previous days of track laying, today was very slow indeed. Since yesterday, the only thing that has really happened was concreting of the track over Grote Street. The main reason being a lack of man power in comparison to previous days. Other then that, most of the work was making the forming for the concreting through the square. Because the track will be laid in grass, the forming will take a lot longer then if it were in the street. Clearing and preparation of the right of way was also continuing south of Grote Street. The track laying will be from Grote Street towards Gouger Street and then north from Grote Street towards the south end of King William Street.

Photos coming soon.

New Victoria Square tramstop location. I was told by a contractor on site that they are thinking of doing something of a retaining wall with plants in it because of the difference in height between the ground and the track. Combined with grass being laid around the rails, should look very nice indeed.

Forming for the limited amount of concrete that will be used on the 'reserve track' section through the Square. The concrete will only encase the rails and the sleepers but will allow for grass to grow between the rails.

Cheers for the shots in the sky. Certainly an angle I probably won't be able to achieve. Just need some wings

Question for you guys. Why are the tram tracks still wide apart when crossing Grote St? I understand that the platform stop will be just south of Grote street, but why don't the tracks start to close in after the stop, like along King W st? I guess they will keep this width around the square?

Thanks for the comments - was quite a sight on Friday night with a lot more activity going on in the square but I didn't have a camera with me then... Will definately be taking some more.

Great pics Will and Sam!

I was there on Saturday night before going to a party, some worker looked at me and I have him the thumbs up, and then turned to someone else and in sign language told him I was drunk... I thought it was funny. Then about 2 hours later I was really drunk :P

This is because the tracks have to wide enought for a platform stright after crossing the road.
