Nothing happens if you end up passing 2 sections, other than you are no longer are travelling on a valid fare - so risk getting done by inspectors, just like people travelling on concession tickets who shouldn't be or people with no ticket at all.
Thank you for that. That's very handy to know, I'll definately keep that in mind next time I take a short trip!

We've had them since the inception of this new system (possibly even before on the punched paper tickets I can't remember that far back). I buy a two-section multitrip which works out to 1.73 per trip. Since all I do is catch the tram in the morning from Pirie Street to Greenhill road (only one stop past the "free zone", I could walk the last bit but I never get out of bed early enough lol, I do walk all the way home after work though).
Section Tickets
Once validated, each trip on a Multitrip 2 SECTION ticket cannot be used to transfer onto another service and is valid only for a journey that is no more than 2 Sections (approx. 3kms).
Singletrip 2 SECTION tickets cannot be used to transfer onto another service once validated and are valid only for a journey that is no more than 2 Sections (approx. 3kms).

Two Sections explained
A Two Section ticket allows you to travel two sections which generally works out to be around 3 kilometres in distance.

Unlike Adelaide Metro Zone tickets you are unable to transfer services when travelling on a Two Section ticket without another trip being used on your ticket. Two Section tickets are considerably cheaper than Zone tickets, making them an excellent choice for anyone living close to their desired destination. Two Section tickets are available in the following varieties;

- Multitrip and Singletrip All Times Two Section tickets
which can be used at any time of any day.

- Multitrip and Singletrip Interpeak Two Section tickets
which can only be used between 9.01am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

All of these tickets can only be used for Two Sections or part thereof and are not transferable. See the map below for bus section examples.

Essentially it seems that two-section tickets are primarily geared towards CBD workers who live in neighbouring suburbs, then. They should retain it but revamp it, as only ~15% of all jobs across Adelaide are in town...

A pity they don't advertise these local zone tickets.I have actually had a bus driver deny the existance of such a ticket and was charged full price from Mile End. The cost of fares is a major reason I often drive into the city and park. If there were more park and rides just outside the city (like the one at the ent. centre.) and the cost of travel into the city was under 2 bucks, it might prevent alot of cars parking in the city itself, around Hindmarsh Sqaure., the uni precinct or queing for carparks. The desire of the city council to de-car the city, perhaps they could subsidise the cheaper innner suburban fares, also to encourage residents the immediate areas outside the parklnds to use the city centre for shopping rather than drive to a suburban shopping centre and to get over the imaginary barrier of the parklands for many of these residents.

If anyone wants one of these and still does not have one, the metrocentre on currie st (and presumably the one at the train station) is now replacing faulty metrotickets with metrocards.

Even though they are still not available to the general public, if you go in and tell them your ticket is faulty (they don't check if it actually is), they will offer you a metrocard as a replacement ($5 card cost still applies).

Either I'm blind, or there's nothing on that page stating whether or not the credit put onto the card expires. Do I have a limited time to use it (ie. 6 months from recharge), or will it stay on there until I use it up?

There is no expiry, I was talking to one of the Admet people yesterday about the card.

I can see the Auto-Recharge structure changing sometime soon though. As I see it, recharges go through at 8PM Daily (assuming no delays), $5 for an Adult trip, when the card reaches below the threshold ($3.19*2 = $6.38). Assuming an adult were to travel in morning and evening peak ($3.19*2=6.38), and recharge $5 each day, the card holder will run out of funds, or will have 2 simultaneous recharges every 3 or so days.

Example: (Bracket = multiple recharges allowed per day). Bracketless = One recharge per day.

What other cities? When I was in Melbourne last month IIRC a Myki card costs $6 (+ stored value).

I wouldn't be surprised if other cities sold cards for $20 including credit, but I doubt anywhere charges that much for the card itself.
