Düsseldorfer wrote:those platforms appear to be a bit short to handle a long train, i've seen that Mawson Lakes can definitly accomidate a 6 car train and possibly 7 or 8. In that photo it looks like the new Oaklands could barely manage a 3 car train, or will they make it longer once the old Oaklands has been demolished.
Thats scary to say as Noarlunga runs a 4 car set in peak for at least one of their services that I know of.

This is going to be great when it is finished (I park my car there every day) however I hope they can keep on top of vandalism because it will degrade quickly if they do not.

Made a run through the site today on a train to and from Noarlunga. There has been plenty of work at the station site since last update. The platforms are now virtually complete bar the paving but all the filling is there none the less. All the grafitti and scaffolding that Norman's photos show have been removed. On the DOWN platform (Noarlunga side), the first of the roof frame has gone into place and it looks exactly like the renders presented by TransAdelaide/the DTEI.

I did make it down and will have the photos up soonish. Got them uploading now at an annoyingly slow pace.

The roof structure appears very interesting. A vast improvement to the old station. I just wish this would hurry along already.

crawf,
Yes you are right it is bloody disgraceful, if fact i find it absolutely appalling that the SA government expect the public to use a Station like this.
For 50 and a half years I lived in South Australia and now I live on the Central Coast of NSW. Rail infastructure in SA needs to be on the same level as Sydney's Infastructure expansion. They proved that they can do it with the Mawson Lakes Interchange. My only complaint is that they have made the platform that goes to the City first class but the platform to Salisbury is not.

I am a firm believer of improving the Railcar services in Adelaide and the infastructure work has to be hand in hand with the improvements of the rollingstock, you cannot have one with out the other.

When the Oaklands Interchange is done then the Government needs to work on another. Perhaps it is time to re-introduce services to Northfield and further out on that line.

The question is, will the Government spend the money.

Regards,
Brian Leedham.
