It will be quite a transformation from the present "ugly duckling" - that new venue on the western side will get a large LED banner screen
for graphics, text & video ...

Thanks for all the progress photos. It is going to look much better when its finished. I didn't know it was originally built for basketball - very interesting.
But I agree it looks like an Aircraft hanger. Will the view from Adam / Manton Street change? Any cladding or anything to be applied?

And whats the new centre going to be called "THE WAREHOUSE". I am sick of Adelaide doing things
on the cheap. It has always been evident that the Entertainment Centre was a piecemeal design
and approach once Basketball went its own way. We thus ended up with another set of sub-standard
stadiums etc.

i might be wrong, but i think this 'warehouse' part of the development is not facing port rd - right? the port road side has no new 'building components' apart from the snazzy parachute-like glass canopy.

I really can't fathom why the gov would like a airplane hanger on Port Road... I hope they can manage to put some nice trees or something around the "Warehouse" to disguise it a little.

All new works are facing Port Rd. The "warehouse" element is the new 2500 person venue.

From what I understand is that boxy grey thing won't even be visble from Port Road as it will be covered by the big glass parts of the building that will extend to the road. That warehouse part is a big distance from the road leaving lots of room for things in front of it.

It's actually not that far from the road.
