Except for the location, which is crap. Can you imagine TSA HQ in a location that isnt very easily accessable by public transport? I dont know about yorke, i dont think they will go for it cause of that reason. My money is still on twin towers... I think getting a 100m+ scraper on the currie st site is a bit farfetched.Pistol78 wrote:I would love TSA to take over the proposed 115 KWS development. That building has so much promise and is so close to City Central. That would be a nice cluster of new talls for Adelaide!
But my money is on they move into the Yorke Campus. It sounds like it would suit their needs perfectly.

What are you talking about?? That building is a true classic... glass isn't the be all and end all of building fascades, it would be an utter travesty to change the cladding on this buildingPistol78 wrote:There is a lot of scaffolding around and climbing up this building ATM. You sure that they aren't changing the facade? It's a shame they aren't cos it is in such a prominent position in Vic. Square that it would be great to see a freshly renovated 'glassy' there instead. That marble cladding just looks so run down and tired.
Architectural experts regard the Reserve Bank Building, as one of the most if not the most beautiful high-rise building in Adelaide, and one of the best examples of 1960s high rise architecture in Australia. Its curved marble façade is a classic and its architecture is timeless.
However there is no point in arguing this, as the building is heritage listed to preserve it forever.
However with the recent examples of office accomodation in Adelaide, any alterations would ruin the building and make it 'cheap' looking.

Sorry Will but I sometimes regard 'expert' opinion with a large grain of salt. My favourite are painters who declare a piece of art as ground breaking when to the average person, it looks like a piece of shit. It may be well regarded by architects but the point of a building is to appeal to the public not the select few. I take a rather neutral view of this building. To me, it's neither attractive nor ugly. It simply doesn't make any statement to me but I'm just an average Joe.Will wrote:Architectural experts regard the Reserve Bank Building, as one of the most if not the most beautiful high-rise building in Adelaide, and one of the best examples of 1960s high rise architecture in Australia. I completely disagree, I am not an expert, yet I regard the Reserve Bank Building as one of our best high-rise buildings. You have to remember that it was built in 1962, yet it still looks modern. Furthermore it is unique in that it has an inward curving facade. Even though it was built 45 years ago, its design is still much better than many new buildings such as the Flinders Link buildings.Al wrote:Sorry Will but I sometimes regard 'expert' opinion with a large grain of salt. Yeah but I think that the Flinders Link was done very much on the cheap. I have really stirred up some emotions about this building haven't I? I was not talking about a glassy like CC1 or Flinders Link, and you have to agree that this building is starting to look quite tired. Get rid of that framework at the base of the building and install fresh glass to the windows, maybe even pressure clean that marble then and only then might it look like the building that everyone seems to cherish so much.
