IMO it would have been really neat if SAHMRI was built as one big massive iconic building instead of 2 smaller buildings. Could have been a really nice landmark.

I think it’s less visually imposing to have two separate buildings, plus size-wise it fits better with the surrounding buildings. Also opportunities for different architecture.

Noticed on the train this morning there is a blue shade type screen erected on the northern side of the building and a large skip bin out the front of the former railways control building. I assume internal demolition has started.

It's probably only me, but I always liked the brutalist bunker type design of the control centre, with its angled glass windows.

as a kid I always liked seeing it - it was about the most futuristic looking building I knew of in Adelaide. The new building looks fantastic, but I will miss the control building a little bit as well.

Work is currently being done on site today, looks like they are doing some removal works first before demolition, I suspect this isn't far off now then?

I noticed SAPOL was on site this morning at around 9am.
If you look closely you can see the police van in the bottom right hand corner and the SAPOL officer walking with 2 guys in hi-vis near the ute.

Is that a crime scene investigation van? Do they look into workplace accidents -- maybe something happened during demo?

Workplace accidents would be assessed by SafeWork SA as far as I know. This must be a different matter

From what I saw, there was a single officer who walked around the site and looked through some of the stuff in the back of the ute with gloves. He then took a camera out and was taking pictures of gate/entry to the site where the McMahon sign and the witches hats are. I thought maybe the site had been broken in to overnight.
