I'm happy this one is going up quickly. The sooner it's done the sooner they get onto Adelaidean. Full steam ahead!
Who cares?
Given this is a thread on a website celebrating construction in Adelaide CBD, probably...everyone
?
Regarding your comment Ser Noit of Loit, I think they'll commence anyway, but likely will see an acceleration once Dwell nears completion. Having said that I use the carpark between these buildings and there is no sign of them starting a cleanout of the interior of the building scheduled to be demolished. Probably only take a day or two once they decide to get moving though.

Making good progress. Some pictures from Saturday 21 Oct 17 - now at level 9
I'm quite confident this isn't the final facade treatment. This will end up being painted. I'll have to try to drag up the original Dwell/Adelaidean DA form to check the treatment schedule.
Great pics too EBG.

I think they missed the "sandstone effect" in the mix... The colours and textures shown on the documentation don't match what's occurring in the slightest!

I think the only thing we have to go with is "something" has to happen to achieve the contrast depicted in the renders and described in those drawings I linked. That being the recessed circles are darker than the rest. I think at worst it would be that the circles are filled in with stain (as described) and the "sandstone" remains. If that's the case I'll probably vom vom

Artistic licence? Sunset hues?
The renders in the document Algernon linked to look like reality.

As at 24 Oct the building it self is now visible from the corner of Frome Rd and North Tce.

This render is the outlier. Judging by the washout of all the other buildings in the render it would be the least credible. All other renders I have seen show a contrast between the facade and the circles with the circles being clearly darker. That document I linked above also says the circles at least will be stained.
I honestly have nothing against exposed concrete. We have plenty of it in the brutalist office buildings. What shits me is they can't get the panels the same colour despite nailing it on every building 30 years ago? We didn't just lose the talent for it over night, it's just a cheap job fabbing the panels. So in the absense of good quality control of the concrete the only saviour now would be painting them. Have to wait and see.

Yesterday at about 5:30 I walked past and it looked a little bit sandstone-y. May have been the sunlight at the time. But yes the consistency is not within acceptable tolerances.
