Don't know if this is good or bad news...
Over the last week there has been some action in the retail tenancy on the corner of Hindley and King William Streets, seems to be getting a new fit out.
I can't imagine a hotel needing a sales showroom thing, so if they've signed up a tenant it doesn't look like this one will kick off anytime soon.

A hotel with ground floor retail isn't rare at all - the Hilton has a shop or two downstairs, and so does the Grand at Glenelg. If they're not going to need much space at ground floor level, as many hotels seem to be these days, I expect it makes more sense to rent it to someone who does.

In that location, I'd hope it'd be retail, else I'd be worried about the developers' business sense.
Even still, it would be odd if were being fitted out before the actual building redevelopment is complete. Hopefully just preparatory work of another kind.

I think the store is called "People" and is clothing... i choose that term over fashion as it looked very cheap on the very quick look I had at it as the tram drove past.

It's a Anglicare store. Hopefully they're just using it in the lead up to Christmas.
I can't see any construction happening with this one while there is a tenant in the building considering they got rid of all the old tenants prior to the first commencement attempt.
Such a shame to see this building in it's current state.

That sounds a little more permanent than the Anglicare store. Here's hoping it doesn't push the redevelopment out any further.

Interesting. I'm not too sure if those glass shards really complement the rest of the building, but it's hard to go by those renders.
Shame they're not bulldozing the goiter (sorry, southern annexe) attached to the building. At the very least, they could have redone the facade of it so that it isn't so absurdly ugly.

i dont mind the glass shard thingys, looks better than the other shelter around the building. And indeed a shame that the southern building didnt get dozed or at minimum reclad

Whatever. When does it start up again? I'm sick of this building just sitting there boarded up and lifeless.
