A frightening state of affairs indeed, and one that appears to have infiltrated both sides of Parliament. How disgraceful.
Certainly, in fact I have several. I always have a couple in play at any point in time, and a few spares ready to start if the phone calls start getting too insistent.

Turns out the Essendon guy whose conflagration* attack caused all the protests over in India set himself on fire in an attempt to defraud his car insurance.

No matter where you are from, people are people. From the smart, to the dumb, to the bloody idiotic.

(*Nb I'm unsure if this counts as an actual conflagration, I understood the car was destroyed, does it have to be a building?)

I somehow doubt the Indian media will publish this.

Well, I was pretty much offline during our moving process and now we have a horrible internet connection that George and I have to share (and we all know how much he talks :P )

Anyway, I just wanted to say it's good to be home! There are so many thoughts and feelings in my head about the big adventure my family had, about what it means to leave your home, to set up a life in another place, and then to have that pull to go back home. I wish I had the words to share how I feel. There's a sense of, I would say, relief, to be home. That feeling of being in a place that you know you belong to is priceless. Personally, I never really got over the strange feeling that I was a guest in America - not because of the way I was treated, I think it came from me. On the other hand, there is also a slightly unsettled feeling knowing we will probably never live in America again, and that feels a little sad and anti-climactic, I guess. I suppose it's all just an adjustment period.

One thing I have been delighted by is coming home after being away for a few years, and seeing Adelaide through fresh eyes. I now know for certain that every city has problems and issues and insecurities, and that Adelaide is absolutely not alone in this. While away, I got the chance to consider for myself where I think Adelaide's strengths and weaknesses are - living OS was a great opportunity to compare and reflect. Whereas before, I was too inclined to believe and be stressed by Adelaide's rather harsh self opinion, and the rather harsh assessments of us made by people in other Australian cities, sometimes. There is so much to be proud of in our city. And by saying that I'm not trying to gloss over the fact that we do have our problems and challenges. I'm just happy to be looking around and seeing that there really is a lot to like here.

That said, I saw the Gepps Cross Homemaker Centre and SA Water - and I have to say, I hated them from afar, and I hate them from up close too.

Belated happy new year everyone!

Welcome home, Queen Anne! Appreciate your thoughts.

And, yes - there is so much to be proud of in our fair city!
Adelaide is rated in the top ten of the world's most liveable cities. (Feb 2010) The Economist - annual survey http://bit.ly/akY5Gx

Will be interested to hear more of your views on changes, directions etc.

Indeed, it already vanished. :(
Also, the toddler's area is being upgraded and yes, there will be a better waterslide! :D
The upgrade should be complete in time for the start of Summer 2010!
