I see your point, but brick veneer always looks a bit cheap and tacky? Plus I kinda enjoyed the contrast between concrete and brick, kinda like new vs old which is what I thought this stand was all about. In what way isn't it FIFA compliant? Looks easily compliant to me. EASILY.Current design is definitely not World Class and definitely not FIFA compliant...

SOUTH Australia's $100 million project to revitalise its jewel of sport is on target to be ready by late October and plans have been put in motion for Adelaide Oval to be the custodian of the Sheffield Shield.
After a tour of the building site, the Sunday Mail can reveal the most detailed plans yet of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval.
It is understood the cost will be higher than the $85 million handed to the South Australian Cricket Association by the State Government, but at a level SACA feels is manageable.
The new western grandstand has four bars, a dining room with views of the oval and out the back to the parklands, a terrace bar which overlooks the village green behind the stand and state-of-the-art facilities for players and SACA members.
It is the same stand that under the Stadium Management Authority - a joint venture between SACA and the South Australian National Football League - will provide a substantial portion of the seats when AFL football moves there. After being allowed exclusive access to the building site by SACA president Ian McLachlan and builder Built Environs, the Sunday Mail can report:
THE old Chappell Bar has been replaced by two bars facing the village green, with adjoining kiosks. There are two other feature bars in the stand.
CAPACITY of the stand is 14,000 seats, but another 600-1000 members can be catered for.
SACA has built a Sheffield Shield room where it wants to host the original Sheffield Shield. Discussions are being held as to whether the original should travel with the winning side or be preserved in South Australia. The Shield has been in Melbourne for the past two years but discussions are being held over whether a replica should be awarded to each year's winner.
TALKS are under way over what to call the new stand, but the Giffen Pavilion is firming as a likely option. The original brickwork from the George Giffen Stand has been retained.
THE cost of preserving the brickwork from the George Giffen stand, which was propped up during the construction of the western grandstand, will be between $15 million and $17 million. The new grandstand is built around the old arches.
SEATS will be light green and burgundy, and the roof will allow light to come through. It is of a similar construction to AAMI Park in Melbourne.
THE ground has been re-shaped to become a proper oval. One wing has been expanded and the two dead pockets have been cut off.
THE ivy growing on the back of the western grandstand has been kept alive at Virginia, at the behest of former groundsman Les Burdett, and will be returned over summer.
AFTER initial membership offers were sent out, the predicted ratio of members to seats is less than at the MCG, giving members a greater chance to get a seat at major events.
THE gradient of the stand is less than that of the MCG's Southern Stand or the stands at Homebush in Sydney, but allows its patrons to be closer to the action than anywhere else on the ground.
