Top car park floor (6) of the car park on top of the Charles Streetbaytram366 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:48 amThe first photo in the series shown above - where was that taken from?
Plaza. The lifts are just off Charles Street on the east side or you can access from the renaissance arcade, just walk west past the David Jones escalator and take the first branch to the right.
I would love to get access to Urbanest top floor.

Thanks guys. I'm wanting to photograph that old bank sign and thought that angle is perfect to get it with a telephoto lens.

The parapet there is reasonably long so you will be able to fine tune your angle. The first time I went up there I was pleasantly surprised to see that sign.baytram366 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 9:30 amThanks guys. Another example of learning more about how these buildings are constructed. Thank you for the clear photo of the loading platform. More information is at https://www.prestonhire.com.au/products/superdeck/ - thanks!

We're not going to be too far off on seeing the first facade mounting brackets by the looks of things. This has certainly picked up the pace, i think there's only a few floors left until the podium is complete then we'll hit the tower proper.

Not mine - but a work mate took this (looking West down Austin Street):

Yes it looks like the support poles are going in for the 6th floor now, the carpark ends at the 7th, the 8th (roof of carpark) has stuff then the tower starts. Thought I'd add to this, after looking at the DA, there is a swimming pool on the 8th floor along with other communal facilities and some apartments.
Also looking at the latest photos, the "yellow bin" has moved up a floor, there is now a black platform built and all the yellow timber from underneath the 3rd floor has been removed leaving just the scaffolding in place. All between when I was there 11:34 Sunday and 15:00 Tuesday. - Lots happening.

in the above image posted by whatstheirname with a name of Construction65.jpg (3.57 MiB) looking at the timber being lifted out of that "superbin" it is appears to be bundled together and then the chains from the crane are only looped around the bundle and not secured in anyway. That would seem to me to be therefore relying upon the workers "balancing" the load otherwise it runs the risk of tilting and possibly sliding out? Is that normal practice. I understand timber has a high friction coefficient and they probably wouldn't do that with steel, but I am just curious and asking those more knowledgeable on this site.
