South Tce works continue, with the new trackwork being slid across by multiple cranes during the night

I came across this unusual sight at the South Rd / tramline crossing.
Core samples are being taken for the new bridge.

Nice pics. Is it just me or does the track at the points at South Terrace not look straight?

Noone, because there won't be anything to see at Morphett Street :P . All the action will be at Victoria Square for the time-being.

Whoops, I meant Morphett Road, where the first tram leaves.

I'm tempted - but I currently haven't slept since 7am yesterday...

I just took a few photos but they didn't turn out very well - they're currently working on the track between Wright and Grote Streets. A tram is currently parked between Wright and Sturt Streets ready for testing I'm assuming.

This is the only photo that looks somewhat decent - will have to get some more after sunrise.

Again, nice pics Sam. Real grass between the tracks, WOW! How long is that going to last?

Cheers

Hi,

I've just registered, been following the forum for a while now.

I remember a mention in the Advertiser of the new tramline bridge crossing South Road and it came up in BillD's post again.

Tried to search the forum but found nothing more on it. Does anyone have any further info?

Cheers.

Insane. I wonder how much they are stressing to get it finished by tomorrow morning.
Hopefully everything works as it should.

It was announced in the last state budget. There really isn't much around about it, other than it'll be a bridge over South Rd, not an underpass. I hope they find a way to build it without closing the line.

You would think they would build the bridge the same way as they planned the anzac highway underpass, build it just to the north or south of the existing line then connect it once completed.

Wow, nice work Sam!

I love the new light poles and the station itself, when is a shelter coming to the stop?
