Apart from the electricity debacle, which is still to play out in its entirety, and is heavily reliant on federal policy, I think the current state government is actually doing ok. Part of the reason that the opposition cant land a blow, is because people in SA see a slow steady increase in their property values, those with a job enjoy a generally low cost state. Infrastructure is being rolled out in a slow steady pace in line with financial constraints. The books are pretty well balanced in comparison to some states. Sure, nothing is setting the world on fire, but I can say from an expat point of view, the small boutique -y vibe that Adelaide is putting out is being noticed interstate. I get the feeling those in SA are happy with the "easy as she goes" approach, and do not aspire to SA becoming a flashy economic powerhouse-with the wholesale changes in lifestyle that brings. I'm not sure I could permanently live back in Adelaide- the opposition to change frustrates me...but that is just me. there is something comforting about a visit to Adelaide, where everything is still in its place, but there is just enough change to make it interesting, and my property value is increasing.

the Liberals problem is that they have nowhere to go, they're ideologically dead.

Fuck these guys. Whether or not there’s actually any substantive difference in the programme, the fact that they’re dog whistling to homophobes tells you all you need to know about the Liberals.

Um...
"Now students identifying as LGBTI are an important cohort that we need to look after, statistics show they are more vulnerable but they're certainly not the only students suffering from bullying.

"There are a whole range of students suffering from bullying in our schools."

"It's got a very narrow focus in dealing with the particular needs of students identifying as LGBTI," Mr Gardner said.

"The safe schools program, it's been discredited for a range of reasons, but particularly it doesn't include curriculum resources in the South Australian version, and it doesn't deal with the needs of a great many of the students who are bullied," he said.

"We want to have a comprehensive evidence-based program which will include curriculum resources and it'll include age appropriate curriculum resources for primary school students."
Yes, AGE APPROPRIATE. It's not appropriate to be teaching primary school students how to buy sex toys online or how to get on to adult video sex chat sites to have sex chats with adults.

Sounds like the Liberals actually plan on creating a program that actually deals with BULLYING, and not an indoctrination program.

Well done to them, at least for once they are actually trying to do something.
If only they tried as hard on everything else.

I'd rather not cover old ground as I think I'm pretty clear on your views on the topic, but from a political perspective it seems to hold narrow value.

It seems to be a cynical dog whistle to people who have a stick up their ass about the 'homosexual agenda', given there's no need to dismantle safe schools in order to deliver an anti-bullying curriculum. This is pretty evident when the policy announcement includes statements about safe schools "having been discredited". By whom? The Catholic Church?

Aren't the libs at risk of losing the prized seat of Adelaide, a place that voted 70% in favour of marriage equality and in doing so rejected the scare campaign about safe schools?

Again - it reinforces just how tone deaf they are to the views of the broader electorate. Their entire policy platform seems to be developed by reactionary eastern suburbs conservatives stressed about the prospect of stoned schoolkids catching trams out to norwood for gay orgies in high rise dog boxes. Seems like a missed opportunity given there is a legitimate place for representing moderate conservatism in Australia (essentially the void that Xenophon has planted his flag in). How the fuck they have not only 'not learned' but 'gotten worse' since the last election is beyond comprehension. It's like they want to lose.

I agree with Rev, I'd trust Uncle Stevey Marsh over evil-communist Jay "Chernenko" Weatherill running our state economy into an uncompetitive mess.

If people properly understood how preferences work and voted accordingly, the Liberals would've won the last state election and possibly the one before that.

Although part of the problem might be that people are unwilling to put ultra conservative, often Christian based parties higher up on the list.

Ah, no. I didn't say anything of the sort. I didn't comment about the economy.
My comment was about the safe schools program being turned into a program that's actually about school yard bullying and not politically motivated for social engineering purposes.
If the Liberals could pull it off, with an education department stacked with socialists. Of course they wont get into government so its a mute point really.

Didn't Steven Marshalls business go bankrupt?

I frankly don't trust either of them to sort the economy out.
Labor panders to the union socialists.
The Liberals pander to the corporate lobby groups.
In the middle is the common worker who gets screwed one way or another.

It's a good list, there is obviously partisan discussion in the comments but the OP itself is keeping nicely neutral.

Reddit is the internet just like Google.
This basically tells me liberal supporters do not internet and to me that screams bad.
The internet is an evolution for trade for humans. It is on the same level as tools and motor vehicles.
It is the foreseeable future and it is right now.

If you say liberals do not reddit, I say liberal are out of touch with the world economy and are not fit for government.

I disagree.

Every internet forum has its bias for a variety of reasons. I dont think the whole of reddit has the same view.

Very simplistic views.

The reality is that through the media anyone who is “right wing”, as in proud of their country and so on, typical conservative views, is attacked, belittled, and labelled as fascist, neo nazi etc.
It even happened here, and despite the personal abuse I received I’m the only one who got punished the moment I threw shit back at someone.

This is how most forums work.
Because the majority are sheep and their “personal opinions and beliefs” aren’t actually personal or theirs, but formed by popular media.
The idiots all validate each other.
What’s more fascist then trying to shut down opposing views? That’s the left in a simplistic way.

The silent majority don’t share the views the loud mouth socialist minority do. Problem is the silent majority has been beaten into submission and is held there by these constant attacks the moment they speak up.
When the silent majority finally do break through you end up with Trump as leader of the free world.

How many conservative talk shows or news stations are on tv?
We have the ABC and SBS two heavily socialist networks. We have The Project another heavily socialist shitshow.

How many conservative columnists are there in the papers?
How many socialists are pushing the latest politically correct issue every day/week?

See the problem?
There isn’t equal representation. One side has seized the majority of the mainstream media, education system, and tries to shut down the other side while yelling that the other side is fascist.

Conservatives don’t have someone like George Sorros who funds movements and uprisings to destabilise countries and governments, or to pay off journalists to print biased, slanted news. You can google research on Sorros your self if you don’t believe me.
