Looking at the Grenfell St side of the building this morning, the south-western corner has been reduced in height by at least one storey. This is the part which featured the words "HARRIS, SCARFE, LIMITED" painted on it. Only the "Limited" bit remains now.
It seems they are just doing this slow method of demolition for now, but I would imagine once the building gets down to about 3 storeys high the large excavator will probably take over and get rid of the rest very quickly.

Because I just like the current slogan. That's all.

Isn't the current slogan "Quality
food costs less at Coles" ?
Feel free to move to The Pub, btw.

thanks Scooter Guy for the photo updates. Haven't had a chance to get into the city myself in the last few weeks to have another look. Does anyone know if anything is being saved / sold off from the building?
I'm guessing the Rundle Mall tower only has a week or two longer to go until its dust...

I'm surprised to see that (judging by some earlier photos showing one of them partially mangled up by an excavator) the escalators would appear destined for the scrapyard. I thought that given how new they are at least the steps and motors would have been removed for reuse, but apparently not!

And the lifts that replaced the old manually operated one... they couldn't have been over 5 years old. Wonder if they were salvaged.

Umm, is it just me or does it look like the last picture was taken from on the scaffolding shown in the top left of the first photo?

I climbed up on the concrete barriers to get a better view since there was metal sheet fencing instead of the temporary mesh fencing.

The scaffolding on the southern face of the building (shown in both the most recent photos) has now been removed and another 2 storeys have been almost completely demolished from the corner of the building.
Judging by the way the Grenfell st facade was demolished, they did something very much like this to one corner and then the remainder of the Grenfell st side of the building was demolished by excavators within a couple of days, so it could well be that the same thing happens to the remaining part of the building.

Hi all, I've joined up to give some insight into the worx, as I've been closely following this forum...
The DaCosta side on the building is being "air-gapped" due to close proximetry of public, to safely bring the height of the building down to a level where the big machines can take over. Which if anyone is interested in a look, the 1250 excavator will be commencing these worx today
