Giant Coke Bottle at Glenelg
Venue: Wigley Reserve Glenelg
Dates: January 16-17, 10am to 6pm
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=2 ... 32&index=1

might be good, but probably a fizzer...
Coca-Cola has created a splash in Facebook this month with the announcement a giant-inflatable coke bottle is set to tour the nation.

The bottle is inspired by their newly launched television advertisement, which shows teenagers being propelling out of a giant blow-up coke bottle in the middle of a tropical paradise.

The clip features a song by Cee-Lo from Gnarls Barkley and is already proving to be one of the most popular campaigns of the summer, racking up almost 40,000 hits on you-tube in the last month.

According to an event posted on Coca-Cola Australia’s facebook page, the “Coca-Cola Bottle Blast” is set to visit Glenelg on January 16- 17 2010.

Organisers are promising a 12.5 meter high blow-up coke bottle and “a custom built inflatable structure, spanning across a series of heights and challenges”.

However those expecting the computer generated fantasy of Coca-Cola’s clip will probably be disappointed.

When the “Bottle Blast” contraption, complete with trapeze and water slide, visited the Queensland’s Wet n’ Wild earlier this week there were no tropical islands in sight.

It is all part of part of a seven-stop summer tour, which will also take in Bondi, Cronulla and the St Kilda Festival.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

here's something interesting from the Fringe guide which will happen on the 5th, 6th, 12 and 13 of March - Shapeshifter
A series of nocturnal temporary installations across the Adelaide CBD. Emerging from discarded fragments and city debris, watch as Annalise Rees and Suzie Lockery transform your urban environment. Shapeshifter will briefly cling to its urban surrounds, before dissolving back into more pedestrian form before the dawning light.
somewhere on Rundle and Gouger St, check fringe website for exact locations closer to date

Luv the TDU. Spent the afternoon in the city with my family and some friends. We visited the pancake kitchen, bit of shopping in the mall, cibo coffee, late lunch with a stroll thru the rundle st market. Watched the race live and the replay on SBS just now. fantastic!

They've been lucky to have such delightful weather thus far, which I'm sure has made all the difference.

A definite round of applause for the Barossa bakery matriarch who stated on this evening's Nine News that 'if you don't do better with the Tour Down Under in your town, then you're doing something wrong' (or words to that effect) - are you listening, Holdfast Bay Council?

TDU was fantastic this year. Even more people seemed to be out and about. Several stages were very close run affairs - most exciting. Well done to all involved!

I captured these pikkies, sewed together using autostitch, of the breakaway riders (foreground) and the pack (background) in the heart of the Willunga township.

The Festival season rooftop bar Tuxedo Cat is trading again. They had a sandwich board out at the end of Synagogue Pl tonight.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

As part of the fringe opening weekend, there will be an event called Gluttony. If you love quality food and wine, then this will be an event not to miss!
A two day+night decadent feast for the senses on the fringe of the city in leafy Rymill Park. Picnic on the lawn and groove to the laidback sounds on offer while tantalising your tastebuds with delectable food and wine from some of South Australia’s finest regional producers. The highly anticipated inaugural event will be a highlight of the 50th Adelaide Fringe opening weekend in February 2010.

Unique in its concept, Gluttony will transform Rymill Park into a day+night inner-city oasis where festival goers can feast on sumptuous food and wine while savouring extra special servings of film, music and Fringe highlights. A hip and sophisticated cultural offering, Gluttony seeks to establish an annual platform for showcasing leading, established and up-and-coming food and wine producers and restaurants from across regional South Australia, together with some of the best in film and Fringe acts from Australia and abroad, in a true gastronomic celebration
