Thanks mate! Disappointing that that level is being retained in inner CBD location.

I wouldn't worry. A site with as good a location as this will eventually succumb to the whims of developers. For now, they'll put rent money away in the bank and quietly make a few scribbles on the back of a serviette for when things show long-term stability. In any case, this is a prime site to benefit from any relaxing of height limits in the CBD in a few years time - no sense to waste an extra 30m or so that could be granted in the future. Patience, patience!

In terms of CBD development, Being patient seems to be the thing to do in Adelaide these days

Better a project that can be financially-supported through to completion than a stalled construction site that languishes for years because the developers were too hasty. Besides, the plans weren't all that fantastic.

The plans are the only compensation about this not happening.

Well said Omicron. This site deserves a minimum height of 105metres.

Cheers

Type: Development Application Received
Application Number: DA/116/2010
Lodgement Date: 16/02/2010
Location: 73-79 Pirie Street, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Internal and external alterations and use premises as retail.
This application is expected to cost $200 000. This suggests that this is a more permanent solution instead of a temporary adaptation as I had suggested.

This strongly suggests that this project is dead as we know it.

This particular project may be dead unfortunately but 200k isnt a lot of money these days to 'tart up' a premises for a temporary tennant.

Anyone got a picture of the previous proposal just out of interest? I think all of the image links in the thread are dead now...

I can't find one. Pants do you still have access to your photo bucket you might be able to get it out of there somehow.

Basically it looked like the Statewide super building on Gawler Place. Very underwhelming. Having said that it would have been better then this prime site sitting vacant for 12 years.
