what will the height of the main building be?
Did you read the thread?

Currently up to the city height limit, with insinuation it could go higher if the limit wasn't there.

Love the proposal, especially the red brick arches, and am really glad that they're keeping the original markets intact. 24/7 nightlife and improved laneway access and connections. All around a very positive outcome.
Pretty sure they said on the news report that the old market hall will be demolished?
Not sure how you gained that impression as this development only concerns the market arcade (aka the section Coles is in).
Well like I said it was reported on the news.

Save the 50 for a more prime position.
The finish date for this is probably in 2024 sometime so we'll have to be patient.

I'm not advocating a 50-storey (150 metre plus) building, but what rev is getting at is the location is perfect for such a building. Plenty of room. Why do we want to see towers built on small allotments where one or two walls have to be bare? That's what we should be concerned about and of course, the limiting factor of PANS-OPS and all the BS that goes with it.

Pirie Currie Grenfell KW
A building like that would be office and commercial and hence be closer to the CBD hub
I doubt anyone would want an apartment amongst that

How do we know this is 135m? I thought the actual height hadn't been confirmed?

We don't. As per always, some over eager knob has presumed the height in all of their excitement. They've probably already added it to the 'Tallest Building's in Adelaide' Wikipedia page as well...

It said just under 135m in the InDaily article not sure of their source:

“The tower will be one of Adelaide’s tallest buildings, standing just short of the 135m-tall, 37-storey Adelaidean development under construction on Frome Street and the 39-storey hotel development approved for the corner of King William and Currie streets.”

https://indaily.com.au/news/local/2019/ ... velopment/

I know this was quoted as a 35 storey tower in almost every media piece on this.

Also while I'm sure the design will change a bit, if you count floors on the render the 35 levels count is only including floors the tower has above the market arcade itself. So it's showing something around the height of a 40 floor building.

LOL - what's the fatuation with height? Where is the views on quality, merit, need and aligment to the goals for this site? I couldn't care less on exact height level - the renders and concept are very positive in my view, and the whole scheme seems to be one of the best (agree - only renders and concept for now) I've seen for Adelaide in long time and seems to have real legs to deliver.

As an aside - be really interesting study (anyone at Uni looking for a planning degree assignment?) to compare initial renders and proposals submitted at planning stage with the final products - it should actually be something developers must do upon completion so we can all see whether they stuck to the proposal or cut costs along the way and delivered crud in comparison.
