Developers in Adelaide have a tendency to lower their heights during the planning stages in contrast to their original heights. e.g. 270 pultney street, 230m OG, now 180m after planning

I know that mate I’ve been on this forum a lot longer than you, I don’t need the mansplaining. I’ve also seen developers increase height as well.
Typically they’re be some type of statement with such a change, a new lodgement of sorts

I don't think two examples shows a "tendency" to reduce heights, but then I also don't care if heights are ultimately reduced because I'd rather see something built than not.
