Francis Street with patterned bitumen. Still think it would have been far nicer paved. Click on image for bigger.

Oh that's... not what was promised.

Obviously, this one is due to cost and it's a minor lane, but I really wish this city strove to deliver a consistent experience in its capital precinct.

This is a joke right? It looks like a hopscotch square in a school playground. Not a CBD laneway.

Car parks and speed limit slashed under Hutt Street upgrade plan
Speed would be reduced to 30km/h and more than 70 car parks outside Hutt Street businesses would give way for cycle lanes and outdoor dining under upgrade plans, amid concerns it would hurt traders and potentially “kill the street”.
Bit disappointed in the sensationalist/negatively slanted messaging from InDaily, but good to see this upgrade on the cards nonetheless.

More then 10 years ago the Adelaide City Council experimented with 40 K/hr in Hutt St and after 6 months every one, including residents, shop owners and the general public all complained that this was too Slow and so the council was forced to return the speed limit to 50 k/hr. When will the Adelaide Council stop stuffing up streets?

I'd say in that instance Council were initially the positive thinkers and tried to improve the street by reducing speed limits.

I know the trading associations will always warp the council's priorities toward main streets, but aside Hindley and possibly Melbourne none are in urgent need. I've said it many times, but it's beyond time that streets like Grenfell/Currie, Franklin/Flinders and Pirie/Waymouth are upgraded to befit their place as some of the busiest streets in a capital city.

Field Street streetscaping is nearing completion. You'll soon be able to navigate this street on foot on both sides without dodging vehicles.
It seems to have taken an age to do this project.

Yeah, it looks worse in person too. Seems as though they're rushing (for whatever reason) and also working on a tighter budget than perhaps what they had with previous iterations of this bikeway. The lack of tree cover on the western side between Amalfi's and North Terrance is pretty appalling and they don't seem to have left space for trees to be planted. Begs the question as to whether Crowne Plaza have requested no trees along their frontage?
