want free chocolate? apparently this works!

This hack is to do with identifying which of the 1-in-5 bars is a winning wrapper (or not) for the Cadbury “Score a Freebie Bars Promotion” that expires at the end of this month. Get in quick before all the promo bars are replaced with new stock!
This works for pretty much the whole range of medium bars, in approximate order of easiest-to-identify-to-hardest:
40g TimeOut
52g Cherry Ripe
46g Picnic
50g Crunchie
39g Twirl
60g Boost
ONLY the winning wrappers have a barcode printed on them on the inside of the wrapper. This barcode can be identified on the outside of the wrapper by looking for VERY slight indentations - highlighted by a thin red box in the attached scan.
You have to buy your first bar (which are on special/clearance at the moment at most major supermarkets), but after that you can redeem the winning wrapper for another winner, carefully selected by yourself.
As far as I can tell, posting this does not invalidate or contravene the terms and conditions of the promotion:

Sleepy Hollow at Modbury (next to the Holden dealer) is now moving to a better location, possibly Gepps X HQ.
My, the HQ will be attracting over 5 million shoppers!
I've been going past it since my childhood.

My partner is back in Tokyo for a few weeks, visiting family, and apparently last night there was an hour long special on TV on... Adelaide!
She tried to record it, but unfortunately messed up the settings.
Covered all the usual Adelaide things - Rundle Mall, Barossa, Victor Harbor, Glenelg, Maggie Beer etc. but overall she said Adelaide came off looking pretty good.
It looks like it's part of a series on "oceania" cities, so plenty of other places will get their turn. But still good to get some good positive tv in Tokyo just before prime time.

Legs stretched out to the suburbs, visiting the Barossa Valley, Australia's premier wine region and visit the wineries and renowned expert on women cooking.
gota love machine translations.
I guess it's fair enough, we get mini travel-postcard type shows inbetween programmes on SBS and ABC. So why wouldn't Adelaide be featured in other places?

Some big changes for Ten News....
All of Adelaide's news services will be produced locally as of next year, with the announcement that Belinda Heggen and Rebecca Morse will be moving back to Adelaide to present the Channel 10 news here. Since 2000 the news has been filmed in Melbourne's South Yarra studios, while the Sport and weather have been filmed here in Adelaide.
Belinda Heggen will replace George Donikian and Rebecca Morse with presenting the 5pm bulletin, while Rebecca Morse will present a new 6.30 local news edition (Ten Evening News). George Donikian will stay in Melbourne and co-host the 5pm bulletin over there.
There will also be some big changes for Channel 9 next year with the announcement SA icon Rob Kelvin has resigned from the news network, and will be reading the news for the last time on 31 December 2010.

Interesting times in the world of news, not sure if this new news format for Ten will be successful.

It may yet not go ahead, now that Packer and Murdoch are on the board.

Osmond Gilles, first Colonial Treasurer of South Australia. Glen Osmond was on land he owned. Gilles St in Adelaide is also named after him, as is Lake Gilles on northern Eyre Peninsula. When the SA Commission was established, Gilles advanced 1000 pounds to meet preliminary expenses and, in due course, became Colonial Treasurer. He arrived in SA on The Buffalo. He was also a foundation member of the South Australian Literary Association, and introduced Saxony and Merino Sheep to South Australia. He was also involved with the erection of Trinity Church and paid off most of the construction costs.
In Pike's
Paradise of Dissent, Gilles is described as having "an unbounding confidence in his own opinion, but no courage to act upon it alone and unassisted".
Unusual character.
