There is already a Modern/Contemporary Art gallery in the precinct - the Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art (it's in the City West campus, fronting North Tce). It's quite a good gallery too - although obviously limited in size. I agree though that a much larger modern art gallery in the city would be good, spun off from the Art Gallery of SA's contemporary collection and expanded on. Not necessarily anything on the scale of MoMA, but maybe look to The New Museum in NY as inspiration.DaveAdl wrote:Would suggest a museum of Modern/Contemporary Art would be perfect in the right precinct to with the Uni's and the Tafe Art School close handy ... Would encourage an open air "art" plaza to link to the hospital

It's still on schdule if that is what you are wondering?
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Convention Centre | $350m
How's it looking at this stage? Anyone been past lately?
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Convention Centre | $350m
I drive past every now and then and too me the view hasn't changed much from the road in the past month? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

So, I take it all you can see over the fence while driving over the bridge is the large, semi-circular support beam? It's the perfect place for the ACC to develop, but looking at the renders of the building, they could've done it a bit better...
In saying that though, anything would look better than seeing nothing but that relatively hideous train line, as you drive into the City...

Where did that come from? If that's a new one, not keen on what they've done to the proposed building on the left.
What happened to the "cut emerald" look?

Worryingly, from Adelaide Convention Centre's FB page.Matt wrote:Where did that come from? If that's a new one, not keen on what they've done to the proposed building on the left.

They haven't finalised the plans for that building right?
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Convention Centre | $350m
Hopefully not.
If that's what we're getting as opposed to what was originally proposed, that's a really disappointing outcome.

Hideous. TBH the whole precinct looks like a dogs breakfast. Both the current building and the eastern extension are outstanding pieces of architecture but they don't gel well together IMO.
