Really digging that funky retro wallpaper in those last few shots. Yes, great show guys. So many interesting photos.
I have finally got around to uploading some video of "The Claw" working on the demolition from Sunday, 12/06/2011. Enjoy...

I stumbled accross the website today with a fly through including what the interior will be like. I'm impressed :)

marketing spiel from the above website:
Rundle Place is a world class premium retail and commercial property which will act as the catalyst for the rejuvenation of the public realm through the creation of aspirational places with the sense of unique identity.
ok then.

I noticed today that the first steel formwork for supporting columns are being inserted into holes drilled in the ground near the Grenfell street side of the site.

The Rundle Place logo on the website looks very old-fashioned, and not in a good way. It looks very similar to the old Rennaissance centre logo. I hope it's only temporary!

The flythrough is nice to see but where's this "unique sense of place" they refer to on their website?

It all looks extremely bland and generic to me. Nice enough maybe but most certainly not unique.

Old fashioned? How so?
I think it's reasonably ok, if a tad obvious. Certainly better than what a lot of developments get plastered with.

It's hard to explain exactly what makes a logo look modern or old-fashioned but this one just does look old-fashioned to me, and as I said reminds me very much of the Rennaissance centre logo which I'm sure most people would agree is very old-fashioned.

Looks almost identical to the David Jones building interior really.

Almost identical?

It's like they actually Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V the design!

It's okayish. It just looks like another suburban shopping mall, really - which I think for the Adelaide CBD is more of a let-down than a gain.

I wish they'd been a lot bolder with the design. Has anyone been to Melbourne Central? That to me, is what a modern shopping centre should be like!

I dont know what people are complaining about, the interior looks perfectly fine to me.

To be perfectly honest, Melbourne Central disappoints me, i think is ageing very badly, it feels very cheap, also the part where the stopwatch/glass cone thing is very cold in winter, hot in summer. Also one last thing that irritates me, the train station, very 1970s, and they still havnt updated the old school television screens, you'd think the Victorian government couldnt afford a few new LCD screens and some updated graphics, altho i think Myki emptied their wallets a bit

A good bold design i've seen in this country has been Sydney's refurbished Westfield Centrepoint, but that has been designed to be really really upmarket.

I prefer QV, opposite Melbourne Central on Swanson St. There's a bit of a mixed, indoor/outdoor feel, and the spaces are more interesting (a bit like exploring small laneways).

Personally, I think the WOW factor is not there at all after watching that video. Very boring, seen it all before type stuff. Why do most new developments in Adelaide lack balls? Its all glass, bland colours and has a "display home" quality... NEXT!!!
