Unless they use the efficiency gained from the tunnel to increase the frequency of the routes then they aren't coming from anywhere. Or they are coming from the buses actually being on timecitywatcher wrote:Doesn't make sensePeFe wrote:An article from In Daily discussing the Adelaide City Coucil's desire for the state government to redesign Grenfell Street.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
They probably mean the buses that normally travel down north terrace now as part of their route which once the tunnel is built would be rerouted down grenfell. They would have to be counting each route going in and out several times during the day as one bus per in and out. I suppose its a fair point looking at it that way ? Would that be a scenario? Has it been taken into account as part of the planning ? On the surface seems like that there will be alot more buses along that section. That's probably why they must introduce entry via the other doors etc.GoodSmackUp wrote:Unless they use the efficiency gained from the tunnel to increase the frequency of the routes then they aren't coming from anywhere. Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
A total of 55 buses currently use North Terrace and King William Streets, namely 528,548 and G40 routes-big difference from 600 buses? Of course there is talk of Currie and Grenfell Streets being a peak hour Bus Transit Mall, wonder with the tram extension along North Terrace they might be considering diverting some North Terrace bus routes down Currie and Grenfell Streets? Routes 140-144-147-150-157-280-281-286-287-288.

Id say they would have to be counting each trip each route makes in to the city and back out again

Why wouldn't they run some of the buses down the tram corridor as is done elsewhere? It's not as if the tram service is that intense.adelaide transport wrote:A total of 55 buses currently use North Terrace and King William Streets, namely 528,548 and G40 routes-big difference from 600 buses? Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
the buses that currently use the track wont be able to use north terrace anymore and the other routes that do will have a more congested and narrow thoroughfare due to the tram tracks

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
The idea of a Grenfell/Currie transit mall, allowing only buses, taxis, and service vehicles, is looking more and more appealing.
And the extra "600 buses" probably means an extra 600 bus services across a 24 hour period.....which is still quite an increase.

So, why don't those other route buses run on the tram tracks? It's done elsewhere. Buses running on the tram lines, using the tram stops is hardly rocket surgery.citywatcher wrote:the buses that currently use the track wont be able to use north terrace anymore and the other routes that do will have a more congested and narrow thoroughfare due to the tram tracks

I'm only responding to adelaide transport speculating on other non obahn routes being moved. I don't know what planners are thinking .

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
I wasn't criticising, merely pointing out that buses down North Terrace aren't restricted by the tram line. In fact, it's a corridor that can speed up their operation. North Terrace buses should be much faster after the tram extension happens.citywatcher wrote:I'm only responding to adelaide transport speculating on other non obahn routes being moved. As you say, we don't know what the planners are doing. However, there ought to be some public push back if buses are slower. Also, if buses go down the tram line, or Grenfell Street, in lieu of North Terrace, there should be little effect on the rest of the traffic. Removal of buses weaving in and out of stops has got to offset the loss of a lane.

It will be interesting to see how it works in a few months . A few tricky little details to work out. Let's hope it all gels.

People getting off buses in the middle of the road could be interesting.rubberman wrote: Why wouldn't they run some of the buses down the tram corridor as is done elsewhere? It's not as if the tram service is that intense.

Unless the new platforms being constructed are side platforms, the buses won't be able to use the stops as the platforms won't be on the correct side for the buses.rubberman wrote:So, why don't those other route buses run on the tram tracks?
