Let me be the first to say, what a great beauty it is to see the Garden of Unearthly delights back in Adelaide. Yet, another great Adelaide example of temporary attractions, venues and places that bring so much culture, fun and novelty to the city. Alas, my happiness is only short - because like all innovation, it will soon be ripped down!

So, what happens if we do not get rid of the Garden and we make it a permanent feature in the Eastern Parklands? I think the garden should be a permanent feature and culture hub for Adelaide and I think it is about time that as a community we demand it to remain.

How beautiful is the Garden on a Friday and Saturday night - all lite up with people walking, sitting, playing, laughing, enjoying, feeling and living under the lights. Why can it not stay? Why does it have to be pulled down? Why can't something permanent like this venue be erected in the parklands?

If the answer is NO - this is just a fringe event. Then, why can't we take the vision of this garden and build something similiar. It has huge potentional.. am I alone in these thoughts?

I think the reason it is so popular is because it is short lived. If we had something like this all year round it would become stale, people would take it for granted. Talent and attraction would be hard to maintain and keep fresh. Just look at the attempts to hold on to the Fringe and how long they lasted in Adelaide, (I've forgotten the name, but the Berlin cabaret themed nightclub that was in the old Downtown complex on Hindley Street, and the nightclub installed into the abandoned IMAX for example.)

Such a permanent fixture would soon devolve.

Instead I support a constantly rotating and evolving range of disparate and temporary events over the year.

Plus it wouldn't be so popular in the colder months. I think the current timeframe is good enough.

Though it would be good if the Clipsal 500 or the Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts was pushed up a few months to boast tourism to Adelaide (other than Feb-March).

No, as it would be getting too cold if it was pushed into april, the stable warm, dry weather of March is a necessity for these events.

I love the garden of unearthly delights. When they started dismantling last year, I just about cried.
I will get quite a few fringe and festival pics over the next month. The garden is not open tonight though.

I want to stress the word potential.. I think a venue with teh same philosophy of the Garden is what Adelaide needs.. Something with razzle-dazzle. I understand that things can become stale, but if we built a venue that was out of the word - and could sustain international-rotating acts; like the redevelopment of Victoria Square into a cultural hub - I think that would be the same as having the Garden of Unearthly Delights year round..

I just think, we need more development than Office and Apartment buildings. There is no big attraction in Adelaide for locals and tourists alike.

Oh for sure. But, seriously What about a theme park. What ever happened to Dazzleland? Now that was forward thinking and Adelaide using its imagination. I think a nice rollercoaster would be a great idea - I mean we did have Luna Park in the 40s - why not now!!!

In this day and age, the theme park for me is an obsolete concept, like the circus, come on, we have the internet, Playstation and Xbox now

In this day and age, the theme park for me is an obsolete concept, like the circus, come on, we have the internet, Playstation and Xbox now

Exacery- for a themepark to compete with the entertainment options of today it has to be on the scale and complexity of a Disneyland. Dazzleland or Luna Park just can't compete with what we have in our homes these days.

So the question is; where would we put Disneyland Adelaide?

Monarto was my first preference also. I like the exact spot you have chosen too, now off to get those bulldozers.....

How about a SA version of Wet 'n Wild - Dry 'n Dusty? "It's a sandblast!" (Is Puzzle Park still going?)

Wet 'n Wild and Whitewater World are my favourite theme parks up here. I think Dreamworld and Movie World are big letdowns once you get inside them.

Does the Magic Mountain replacement have waterslides? Splashdown is gone. Maybe Greenhills down at Victor has waterslides still? Where can one go for a decent waterslide in Adelaide? And when I say decent I mean terrifying high-speed, twisting and turning, pitch black tube of death type waterslides?

The Magic Mountain replacement (the Beach House) does have a couple of water slides.
