New Melbourne skyscraper to replace historic pub

#1 Post by Hindley Street Alley » Wed Sep 30, 2009 9:32 am

This story shows the difference in heritage attitudes in the city of Melbourne, at least of those who are approving constructions...

This 67 story building will be on the site of a to-be-demolished 150 year old pub which isn't considered to be of heritage importance because of alterations carried out in 1925

Both extremes of opinion are bad.

Here in Adelaide we are at the other extreme.

The best way forward is to protect our heritage whilst at the same time not going down the 'character' path.
