While we're on awards... Conservatory received two awards from the urban design institute last night. High density housing and the presidents award. So well done Pruszinski Architects and Hines Group.

Awards help raise the profile of architectural quality as a component of good development. The AIA award winners are selected from the self-nominated efforts of efforts of AIA members.

The AIA is free to restrict the field as much as it likes, but it's a pity that nominations in the first instance couldn't come from everywhere; building designers, builders, owner-builders etc, with self-nomination as well as nomination by third parties.

This way, the awards could be widened - Australian Design Awards - with categories for architecture, industrial design etc etc.
