litigation

i have noticed in recent times there are some topics which are no longer fit for open discussion on this forum
i have wondered whether the owners of the forum have been threatened with litigation...

I ask this because another Adelaide forum I am a member of...a soccer forum, was threatened by a prominent AdelaideNow journalist with litigation, cease and desist whatever on the grounds of defamation.

this seems to be an Adelaide thing...opinion pieces on internet forums are scrutinized now by sensitive journalists
perhaps it is the high concentration of lawyers we have in our villagio...perhaps

regardless, it seems now you are being watched and what appears to be harmless free speech from the anonymous can now land you and the forum you reside in, in hot water

Why are people so keen to "own" behaviour as being unique to Adelaide? This kind of thing occurs though out the Western world. There's calls to reform British defamation laws atm because of the high number of petty defamation cases there.

The obvious solution, therefore, is to defame everyone.

I wouldn't suggest that its an Adelaide thing, but given the err... level of sophistication in the Adelaide media i'd suggest its something that Journo's here are going to be more touchy about :D
