Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Just FYI, i've been tinkering with the forums and the website. Changes include :
* New banner, thanks to monotonehell for helping knock that one up.
* Improvements to email notifications, you can now see the reply text within your email.
* Front page now has recently replied to forum threads.
Other not so notable changes are :
* Forum database upgrades.
Please let me know if you are having any issues with the new email notifications and the site.
Cheers
Howie

Re: Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Well done, Howie in keeping the site up to date and making changes. I like the new look and featured forum posts on the home page.
Thanks to you and all the administrators/moderators for managing the forums so diligently. Sensational-Adelaide provides an important service and opportunity for South Australians (and expats) to keep informed, share information and opinions, photos and videos and archive discussions on topics relevant to our state.
The photographic record provided here, often from amazing vantage points and at unearthly hours (eg trams being transported to the state or tested), is quite impressive!
I also like the good humoured banter from time to time in the forum and general support and encouragement from other members if someone crosses the line.
Just a minor point. It looks like there are over 2000 members? About Us mentions 1000+. Is there a discrepancy?

Re: Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Thanks Vee for pointing that out. I've updated the About Us page to reflect our ever growing community.

Oooooh!
Just noticed a new feature in the forums showing who is online (logged in users) in a blue ribbon added to the user details.
Any other new features we may have missed?

Re: Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Sorry to bump, but just wanted to see if I could prompt an update to the slider on the main page, which is a little outdated by now. Adelaide Oval's still current, and maybe the footbridge, biomedical precinct, Rundle Mall and Victoria Square upgrades would complement well.

Just noticed the 123 Flinders St proposal has been removed from the banner and there's more advertising around? Whats going on Howie?

Given that the banner has been the kiss of death for proposals, the new advertising is an attempt to seal the fate of poor hoarding around the cities vacant spaces?[Shuz] wrote:Just noticed the 123 Flinders St proposal has been removed from the banner and there's more advertising around? Re: Minor updates to the SA website and forum
Yes it looks like our banner is bad feng shui for proposals, so i've removed it.
Also there's a google ad at the top of the page, and bottom of the page. Site's gotta pay its way somehow without reverting to a subscription based adelaidenow model

We threaten .... I mean invite developers to pay a fee for us not to include their development in our banner.

Now I can see the banner again? Odd.
I've a suggestion - why don't we put the ugliest proposal up as our banner i.e. 399 KWS and that way, it'll never get built?

I'm sure a number of us would be happy to pitch-in if needed, Howie. This site has become a much-appreciated source of information.Howie wrote:Yes it looks like our banner is bad feng shui for proposals, so i've removed it.

Perhaps completed buildings could go up on the banner, maybe SAHMRI when it's finished.Howie wrote:Yes it looks like our banner is bad feng shui for proposals, so i've removed it.
