What is Winter Wonderland?
Over 30 days and nights Glenelg will turn into a Winter Wonderland this July with a 150sqm ice rink installed on Moseley Square. Gather family and friends for some indoor ice skating amusement. Undercover so you can skate rain, hail or shine!
Where is the ice rink located?
The ice rink is located close to Moseley Square, between the Monument and the Glenelg Jetty on the Foreshore at Glenelg.
Admission costs
Adult $10.00 / session
Child (2 to 15yrs) $5.00 / session
Family (2 adults and 2 children) $25.00 / session
Please note there is a $1.00 per ticket booking fee online and a 2% credit card payment fee online or at the ice rink box office.
Skate hire is included in the cost.
How do I book?
Tickets are on sale now. You can purchase tickets either online prior to each session or alternatively at the gate for a 1.5 hour ice skating session including skate hire. Eftpos facilities are available at the gate. There is no phone ticketing.

Session times
Skate sessions are available at 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.
Please check online first as some sessions are already sold out.
Entry to the rink area opens 10 minutes before the start of the session. The 30 minutes in between the start times are used to resurface the ice and get the skate equipment ready for the next session.
Special skating exhibitions by Australia’s up and coming ice skating stars will be on display at the start of the 4pm session on Saturday and Sundays throughout Winter Wonderland.
How many skaters will be on the ice at one time?
There will be a maximum of 100 skaters on the ice at one time.
Do I need to be on the ice with my child?
An adult is required to accompany a child aged 2 to 5 years on the ice. Children under 5 need to wear enclosed shoes for the learning skates.
Adults accompanying a skater aged 2 to 5 years will be required to pay admission.
IcePal Penguins are available to hire for $5.00 to assist new skaters to learn how to skate. Please note there are only 20 of these available so recommend pre-booking.
Do I have to pay if I am just a spectator?
Spectators do not need to pay an admission fee provided they are accompanying a skater.
Will you have my size skates?
Skates are available to suit sizes from 2yrs of age to men’s size 13.
Can I bring my own skates?
Yes, you can bring your own skates but the entry cost will remain the same.
Do I have to bring any special clothes?
Yes. Dress for the cold, bring socks, gloves and scarves and maybe bring a change of clothes for the young children.
Where can I leave my personal belongings while I’m on the ice?
It is recommended that you don’t bring any valuables with you. There will be staff on hand to help but they take no responsibility for valuables lost or stolen. Try to ask a friend to look after your things while you’re on the ice.
Getting to Glenelg and parking
There are several paid locations to park close by:
Elizabeth Street Carpark or Colley Terrace
Beachouse Carepark (undercover) is offering a special $10.00 flat rate for up to 10 hours of parking. This is only available at the Beachouse car park.
Alternatively you can catch a bus or tram to Moseley Square.
Food and Drink
No, there will be no food and drink available within Winter Wonderland. There are plenty of food and drink options in the surrounding Jetty Road precinct.
Toilets
There are not any toilets inside the skate rink. There are public toilets located 100m to the north.
Is the ice rink synthetic?
The ice rink is made of real ice.
Who will be operating the ice rink?
Stars On Ice will be operating the ice rink. Stars On Ice began in 1998 by creative genius and choreographer, Liz Cain, who wanted to bring the magic of the European and North American ice shows she had performed in, to Australia. Stars On Ice has a long history of experience. They have built, supplied, operated and engineered the ice rinks for the Sydney and Bondi Winter Festivals, Andre Rieu World Stadium Tour with a cast of 60 and have over time supplied in excess of 200 ice installations in almost every conceivable situation.

This is an outdoor event and all ticket sales are final and there are no refunds. Skating will go ahead regardless of the weather. Socks must be worn with the rental skates and are available for sale at the ice rink. At the event patrons may be photographed or their moving images recorded. Patrons and their parents / guardians consent to the images being displayed in promotion for the event or Stars On Ice.
