THE Tea Tree Plaza and Tea Tree Plus shopping centres are to be linked in a $190 million redevelopment project.
The upgrade is a joint project by the owners of the centres, AMP and Westfield.
The site will be expanded by 13,000sqm to incorporate 95 new stores and a four-storey car park.
Entry points on North East Rd, Reservoir Rd and Golden Grove Rd will be altered to suit the new centre configuration.
The construction phase will create an estimated 1350 jobs.
Another 650 positions will become available at the finished centre.
Residents in the surrounding area raised concerns about increased noise, access and the impact on other nearby shopping centres at a meeting of the Tea Tree Gully development assessment panel before plans for the upgrade were approved.

This one took me by surprise.

Yeah they were talking about this in the Messenger a few months back, when the application was lodged. Harris Scarfe will be moving to where Woolworths is, and Woolworths will be moving to a new location. It's probably why they haven't bothered updating that Woolworths, it's one of the oldest in the region.
Hopfully this means at least one of the sets of lights on North East Rd will be removed.

Yeah that's true. But i was just wondering if tt+ was having relations with ttp (i.e. managed by the same group).AtD wrote:Eh?Howie wrote:Does marion shopping center include tea tree plus?
TT+ would have less than 20 specialty shops. Its mostly a Toys R Us, Radio Mentals and a Harris Scarfe.
That would be nice.. and in terms of # of stores, it would number more than australia's largest shopping center (chadstone) wouldn't it?And there are rumbling about a six level carpark and a 200 store extension of marion too.

If that happened, it would probley kill of the CBD and many shopping precincts. Though Westfield Marion would become a major national attraction.

There's plenty of empty land to the north they could develop, at least there was last time I was down there. It'd also bring it closer to Oaklands Station.gregrogers257 wrote:Is there any definite info. on this ?Pikey wrote:And there are rumbling about a six level carpark and a 200 store extension of marion too.
