Btw, i hear ikea in adelaide's not doing so well... so i guess if you're after something take the time, swing by there, and pick something up.. it'd be sad to see ikea close here.

They used to have this complete bargain offers last month. A plastic chair with metal legs (but no back support) selling for only $1 or $2 each!

Cheap as Chips price can't even beat that!

Howie, who did you hear that negative news regarding IKEA in Adelaide from?

I am curious because, I live very close to IKEA, and the car-park is usually always full. Maybe people just go in to browse, but it would be a disaster for state pride if IKEA closed. Hopefully this is not a negative rumour from the same people that are trying to sabotage Adelaide; those same ones that every 3 months start the rumour about Mitsubishi.

It came from the advertiser over the weekend i believe. I also one of my mate's girlfriend works in Ikea who confirms the story, however says that things are starting to pick up again as the december retail cycle kicks into gear. Let's just hope they can sustain it.

A spokewoman for IKEA spoke on the radio this morning and basically said it was rubbish and of course people into the store would decrease since the opening as many people just went to have a look, however the difference now is the people that go there usually buy as well.

I bought 2 of these for my apartment that next year I am renting out to students. How good is that - 2 desks for 20 bucks! As if IKEA is going to have any problems in Adelaide. I don't know about anyone else but everywhere I look there is IKEA furniture.

I've been to Ikea a few times now and I've spent quite a bit with them. Everytime I go, it's usually busy so maybe it's the advertiser trying to be sensationalist again. Ikea has created a purpose built store there so I would think they would want to see how it goes for at least a few years before pulling any plugs.

the problem with ikea in Adelaide they only have the one- if they had stores in other suburbs it might do better. i live in the northern suburbs and quite frankly it's in a pig of a location for a lot of people - and current fuel prices don't help!

Do you know how big the store is. There is only 6 in the whole of Australia as they are so big. Why don't we just add a few more airports, stadiums and CBD's in the suburbs why we're at it so nobody has to leave their homes.

i'm sorry but you are missing my point entirly - you probably live in walking distance to the ikea store! hence easy enough for yourself.
