Re: Cedar Woods Glenside
After a lot of 2/3 story town houses work is now starting on the 6 story Botanica apartments.
Re: Cedar Woods Glenside
Am I in minority finding these "modern" Cedar Woods developments, and the Starfish one up at Rostrevor - as homogenous and totally uninspiring? They seem to mandate a bland colour pallete, perpetuate the need for air-con 24/7 as I haven't seen a single eave or shade structure yet (lord knows how they meet the energy codes). Can't they enable more diversity and choice in these prime spots? I reckon in 10+ years these developments will struggle and lack even more appeal.
I just feel nothing when I drive by - whereas Bowden perks the interest, because it has character and variations.

Re: Cedar Woods Glenside
I think the other problem that causes this is the buyers are buying sight unseen and buying the floor plan. They can have glossy brochures and beautiful renders which don’t always represent how the finished product may look.
Re: Cedar Woods Glenside
Zippy, it's been a while since I looked at it but the Energy Ratings used to favor buildings that were good at keeping warm in winter over their ability to keep cool in summer. So the fact that they have limited shading is actually an advantage to their energy rating.
Re: Cedar Woods Glenside
I'm not sure why eave-less designs have become so common in recent years. Is it just cheaper to construct? Or just a design fad? Besides being totally unsuited to our climate, eave-less designs tend to be unattractive and age poorly.zippySA wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 4:36 pmAm I in minority finding these "modern" Cedar Woods developments, and the Starfish one up at Rostrevor - as homogenous and totally uninspiring?
