2036 Olympic Games bid for Adelaide

An Adelaide Olympic Games bid in 2036, if successful, will be game changing and life changing for many people in Adelaide and South Australia. It will transform Adelaide and South Australia in a way that's never been done before, for many generations to come. And 2036 is Adelaide and South Australia's bicentenary, and what better way to celebrate this sentimental occasion by hosting an Olympic Games!
Australia might host a third Olympics at some point. If that happens it will be the biggest sporting event Australia has ever seen. Adelaide can be, and should be, the next Australian city to host an Olympics. There are a number of features in Adelaide that really stand out that would make Adelaide a worthwhile candidate for an Olympic Games: a main stadium (Adelaide Oval) and several other venues close to the city centre, an airport close to the city centre, ease of access and our status as a festival city!
The Olympics are now trying to engage with young people. Therefore, an Adelaide Olympic Games will encourage more young people to stay in South Australia rather than moving interstate or overseas. An Olympics, in my opinion, is the best and ultimate way to sell Adelaide and South Australia's offerings to the rest of the world. This in turn, will lead to a much needed tourism boost for Adelaide and South Australia, as with many other Olympic host cities and regions, and could lead to new tourism infrastructure with a specific emphasis on capitalising on our region's strengths, attracting more young visitors and increasing hotel developments. All this will lead to more employment - that's more opportunities for South Australians including young people and those who have been made redundant!
As well as increasing our international recognition, an Olympics can be used to encourage investment in facilities and infrastructure. Both of this would ensure Adelaide can host more concerts, entertainment events and sporting events, many of which are popular with young people, and even more employment and enjoyment! This will add to our status as a festival city, and it will mean concert tours and a few sporting events don't bypass Adelaide too often!
We are not a big city, but the population of a city should not matter. As long as we have the facilities, infrastructure, finances and support, an Adelaide Olympic Games is possible! We can show the world how to host the "best Olympics ever" in a small and intimate city, that is, Adelaide!
The opportunity to host an Olympic Games does not come around often. Let's seize this opportunity! We have the Tour Down Under and the Australian International 3-Day equestrian event. We will have the Adelaide International tennis event from next year. And I think the next steps for Adelaide could be to bring back the Formula 1 Grand Prix, host an international golf tournament, play a significant part in future Australian bids for men's and women's soccer and rugby World Cups, and bid to host the world aquatics championships. This will better promote Adelaide beforehand which could eventually result in an Adelaide Olympic Games for 2036 that will bring even wider benefits!
I've set up a Facebook page dedicated to the bid, called "Adelaide for the 2036 Olympic Games", for more information hit up this link: https://www.facebook.com/adelaidegames
If you support the bid for an Adelaide Olympic Games, make sure to spread the word across! And for those who have Facebook, be sure to like and share the Facebook page too!
Let me know what you think of the vision for an Olympics in Adelaide here! And no matter what, let's hope that "the winner is Adelaide"!
