Disneyland Adelaide
For a long time, we have been calling on leaders to do something to attract young people to Adelaide and South Australia!
Thankfully, I have a great idea on how this can be achieved! By building a new Disneyland theme park on the fringes of Adelaide!
If approved, Disneyland Adelaide will be built at the site of the existing Parafield Airport, measuring 437 hectares in size. It will be the biggest theme park in the southern hemisphere. It will be around four times bigger than the size of all the theme parks on the Gold Coast combined. And bigger than many other theme parks in the world, with Disneyland Adelaide being its third biggest theme park. And this means Adelaide can be Australia’s new theme park capital!
Disneyland Adelaide would feature many attractions, including a range of roller coaster rides, a water park, an aquarium, a horse park, a sports park, games arcade, motorsport park, film studio, castles, parade area, a casino, a cinema and a variety of hotels, restaurants, shops, bars and clubs. It will be a theme park for all ages, but with a specific emphasis on young people.
I would estimate that this new theme park would attract around 15 million visitors per year, making it South Australia’s most visited tourist attraction and among the top 5 most visited theme parks in the world! This would significantly boost Adelaide and South Australia's international profile!
With Disneyland located in a city closest to the centre of Australia, it is within a 3 1/2 hour flight range to all corners of Australia.
Disneyland Adelaide will also create about 50000 new jobs, some to be directly employed by Disneyland and others in supporting industries. This will be a much-needed boost to South Australia’s economy. And what better place to create a theme park than the site of Parafield Airport in northern Adelaide, an area with a high unemployment rate, huge growth potential and a distance away from entertainment precincts in Adelaide and Glenelg, and Adelaide’s metropolitan beaches.
So far, Disneyland has sites in California, Florida, Hong Kong, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo. Could Adelaide be the site of the newest Disneyland?

Re: Disneyland Adelaide
Have you seen this topic: Should Adelaide bid for a theme park...'a la' Disneyland etc.?
Doubt very much AAL would rid itself of Parafield Airport. Of course if you came offering a huge amount of money for them to move and rebuild then perhaps.
Cheers

I admire your gumption, and apparently strong liver to deal with all the drugs you must be taking.

I personally would love to see a Disneyland Adelaide as well as a full-size replica of the Ryugyong hotel built on Victoria Square.

I think the old Holden factory should be turned into a Mad Max theme park. That would be something unique, pretty cool and fitting with the heritage of the site. Plus it's a practically disused site (Parafield is still used) and it has good public transport connections.
Re: Disneyland Adelaide
15 million tourists? Australia doesn't even get 10 million international tourists. South Australia barely 500,000 international tourists.
Australia isn't projected to reach 15 million international tourists until 202/7.
surely a troll account?

This has been revived! New talk on a Disneyland in Aldinga! Seventh in the world!
Re: Disneyland Adelaide
This will never happen. It wouldn't get the Australia-wide nor international visitation numbers required to make it viable.VinyTapestry849 wrote:This has been revived! New talk on a Disneyland in Aldinga! Seventh in the world!

Not according to the governments predictions, or they wouldn't have raised it yesterday
Re: Disneyland Adelaide
If an investor and Disney are really looking to build a Disney park in Australia, it will likely be in Se Qld.
