am trying to find info or progress or discussions on the bypass that will allow trucks to bypass the city from the freeway and end up out at wingfield or grand junction road. Is it still a project being considered?

You can find the ideas in here:

It's known as 'Short North'.
Many members of this forum believe in a tunnel under Cross Road, directly connecting the South-Eastern Freeway to the North-South Motorway.

It's interesting that the Cross Road tunnel would
cost eight times as much as the Short North option. I wonder if either the Short North or Short South alignments could be used for rail and then we wouldn't need such a long Hills bypass for rail.

Wow, you could build both the short north and short south options at a 3rd of the price of the tunnel.
Big problem I see with the short north option is that it doesn't seem to include an upgrade of GJR from the new road to the N-S motorway.
