Ok, don't shoot me if this has been posted elsewhere.
I saw an ad for this on SBS and had to look it up because it was one of the strangest concepts I have seen so far for a new city.
https://www.neom.com/en-us/regions/theline
Basically a line of buildings encompassed within a sleek facade.
It is 200m wide, 500m high and 170km long
There are no cars and it is supposedly fully self-sustaining.
And they say it will eventually house 9 million residents.
It talks about automation through autonomous vehicles, high speed trains yada yada.
The one thing it doesn't discuss is ports
Airports, freight ports etc. and how this is distributed through the city.
It is an interesting concept, and it would be extremely interesting if even one section of this got built.
However I think it will stay in the concept basket
The Line - Saudi Arabia
Re: The Line - Saudi Arabia
To be honest, most of this seems to be propaganda or reputation laundering by the government to try and cover up some of the recent political issues they have been having. But it is a nice concept I guess?
Re: The Line - Saudi Arabia
The Line is part of the overall project for the city of Neom I believe.
They're even planning on ski resorts in the mountains as part of the Trojena element of the overall project.

Re: The Line - Saudi Arabia
It is pretty amazing in concept, but what would happen if your bottom neighbours built a ceiling past your boundary line?
