Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Tram down O'Connell may have been done already if not for the KWR bridge, the ultimate can kicked down the road that ACC, State and Fed can't agree on who should pay what. It needs to be repaired/ rebuilt before you can send a tram over it. I remember quotes form about 10 or so years ago were around...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Wild idea, but what would people think of a compromise where we can have dual tram lanes on O'Connell Street, that yes, would reduce it to one lane in each direction for traffic - but if LeFevre Terrace was duplicated and Main North Road redirected into LeFevre Terrace and then the road realigned t...

The project, proposed by the Walter Partnership, is for the current run down 1972 office site at 12-16 Walter Stre...

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
Comparison to the CBD of a major city is not fair. Adelaide has plenty of space on the CBD fringe to expand high rise residential and commercial (Bowden, West End and Coca Cola for example) which have much better transport connections and similar proximity. There is currently no competitive demand a...

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Development at the site is good but the scale is inappropriate. Apart from the North Adelaide village across the road once these towers are built there is no opportunity to build anything even approaching their height in the vicinity. Like it or not North Adelaide...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I understand/accept your points JAKJ. I am not aligned either to or against the AFC proposal. I am neutral. However what I am thinking about is how to get a new Aquatic centre built for the benefit of all the public without the burden being on the ACC and it’s ratepayers. So what if the operation o...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Cost wise, $10-40m to bulldoze, $300-400m to rebuild. This is fanciful. By way of comparison, the old RAH is costing $180-200 million to demolish. Admittedly, that includes remediation, but then again: the Myer Centre takes up an entire city block. Not only is there zero logic to this suggestion, i...

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events
A couple of months back I raised the concern about Adelaide Oval slipping down the pecking order and was the for the most part howled down on this forum. No-one denied that other cities were getting events, the debate was entirely over whether Adelaide simply having more seats would have made a lic...

Adelaide Oval Hotel :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: Yep. I really hope it isn't going to turn into as much of a disaster as the renders predict, this is a slipshod, half-arsed development which looks like ruining the Eastern aspect of the oval. The dogged persistence of showing non-opaque glass th...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel
Can't have a State Minister making a statement that says ' the best ' - see the word 'the' - he didn't make a subjective statement - he made an actual statement, one that is incorrect. He needed to stick to the positives of having a unique situation with a hotel attached to a major sporting stadium...
