Re: Secret Heritage List
I think what is most concerning is the additional layers of regulation around what you will be able to do with listed properties including adding in aspects such as roofs as well as front facades. In addition, the Council DPA lists three economic impact studies (Connor Holmes, Hudson Howells and Col...

Re: Secret Heritage List
Will Absolutely agree with the need to allow for contemporary development in locations where heritage listed buildings exist. We have been lobbying on this and on other aligned matters such as land tax exemptions, community contributions and a Heritage Building Code to name but three. The good major...

Re: Secret Heritage List
Will The reason that there is little shock is that most of these properties are 'anomalies' from the 1993 list. However, sitting out in the ether (or at the least on the desks of DPAC) are a request from Council for a further 320-odd properties across the Residential and CBA/Mixed Use Zone to be lis...

Re: Land Tax Reform
All right the Government has just announced its land tax reform package. While it is not the full package that the Property Council has been calling for, it will provide some relief at the lower end. Essentially the Government has committed to: 1. An increase in the base threshold from $110,000 to $...

Re: Secret Heritage List
Prince George, I am sure that I can come up with many other cliches that will make you cringe even more, but I will leave that for another time. Let me turn the discussion around then. What constitutes good design? There are plent of buildings that I personally do not like but I appreciate what they...

Re: Secret Heritage List
Once again, the issue of what is good architechture and what is not is a purely subjective one - same as with music, art and so on - it is in the eye of the beholder. Ultimately there will always be, and always has been architecture that is considered to be drab. But perhaps we should try to underst...

Re: Secret Heritage List
Re: Stumpjumper The issue of heritage is one that is shaded in grey; what is heritage and what is character? what is worth saving and what is not? when you do protect to what extent do you allow adaptive reuse and do you allow new developments on adjoining allotments? and if you do allow development...

Re: Secret Heritage List
To provide a bit of an update, I am reliably informed that the Government has made a decision on the two Adelaide City Council Heritage DPAs and there should be something in the media over the next couple of days about the decision.

Re: Property Council's Adelaide 2036: Building on Light's Vision
Dear S-A Community Thanks to all who have contributed for what seems to be an interesting debate - exactly what we were aiming to achieve with our Report. For the record, we are not suggesting that we have all the answers, and indeed in a city like Adelaide where we have been discussing the CBD's de...
