[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
It looks like the parks that are off the main corridor are being reasonably well looked after - probably because they have been handed over to councils to maintain (who are mostly well equipped to look after parks because that's part of what we pay our rates for). But the motorway corridor itself is...

What's the point of having planning regulations if they're just going to be blatantly disregarded. I'm very concerned about the free-for-all state of affairs at SAPC. Are our planning regs different to other capitals in regards to this sort of thing? Perhaps the regulations should be modelled after...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
The updated detailed project map highlights so many flaws with this motorway design, I could write an essay. I've stared at the Richmond Rd intersection for far too long and still can't work out how all the left and right turning lanes work. Plus I cant wait for all that passive green space to be t...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Nope, the freighters land in overnight on reduced thrust where they can. Last night was definitely a 777 takeoff over the city Freighters may use reduced thrust on landing, but that doesn't preclude a go-around which would rattle a few windows. So, it could have been either, really. I dare say some...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
At 4:40am a 737 freighter from Melbourne got close to landing before going around - that might have been the loud noise, it's what woke me up this morning. (edit - just realised the Air NZ flight landed quite a bit earlier)

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Thats a great point. If Melbourne airport can operate with just one main runway up until now, why would little Adelaide need a second? I also think there would need to be a large underground metro infrastructure plan announced in conjunction if an airport to the north of the city was ever to occur....

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Keswick creek also isn't wide enough along a lot of it for more than one lane, so it would either have a relatively low max frequency as the direction swaps over, or would need a bunch of expensive and unpopular land acquisition. West of Hisense stadium there's a section that's only 5-6m wide with ...

The concept plan does mention the possibility of creating a wide land bridge across the drain at Chambers Ave to replace the existing footbridge, but yes, anything covering the drain would require SA Water's consent.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
There was a lot of wind last night so the prices were reasonable when the sun went down So when there is not a lot of wind one night and go to this site to see the gas price....it will probably be three times as expensive. Gas companies making as much money as possible before renewables and batteri...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
if you move house, or upgrade your solar system or add batteries etc, the tariff ends. Realistically though, how would they know if you replaced panels like for like and kept the capacity of the system the same? The inverter's a different story as that, I think, needs to be registered and the new o...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Do the high feed-in tariffs for home solar have end dates, or are they fixed forever until the wholesale price catches up? They were necessary two or three decades ago to establish the market, but are no longer available to new customers or installations. I'm not sure of the answer re: end dates fo...

God this building is an abomination, how it was approved on our premier terrace is beyond me. Communist tower chic. If communists were building something on North Terrace, it would have an amazingly bold facade with a gigantic colourful mural showing farmers and miners and teachers and soldiers all...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
There are dozens of permanent and temporarily fenced (or otherwise exclusionary) parks, clubs, ovals and playgrounds all over the parklands. Karen Rolton oval is the clearest example because it is literally just a couple of hundred metres away from Ellis Park, but the Adelaide Uni oval has had a fen...
