Re: News & Discussion: Active Transport

The existing underpasses at South and Port Roads could do with some reworking, especially widening. The existing pathway needs better lighting.

Something will definitely happen with the South Rd underpass because it looks like the existing bridge will be completely redesigned / removed & a new ...

Re: News & Discussion: Active Transport

I use to manage Bloom, and these works have been in planning for years. From the discussions that I was privy to, the plan is to take more from the sites neighbouring rather from the vegetation that is already there, but I agree with Shuz, it would be a terrible outcome to rip up trees and ...

Two new schools? There's the relocated Warriapendi School, but what's the other?
sorry, I saw the 'Thebarton Campus' on the map and thought ohh, new school ..

Re: News & Discussion: Active Transport

West Torrens Council have released a plan to build a new section of shared pathway on the southern side of the river Torrens between South Rd and Port Rd, to be built as part of the T2D project. This is one of the few remaining parts of linear path that lacks a pathway on both sides of the river, so ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

It's been happening for weeks - the salt build up is occurring on the insulators on the tops of almost every power pole across the area - its not the main transmission lines that are necessarily problematic. The only solution is to wash each insulator (ie it needs to rain)

[SWP] Re: Festival Plaza Tower 2 | 149m | 38 Levels | Office

The Parklands Association has launched a last-ditch attempt to block this development, labelling it "...the most blatant commercial sellout in the history of your Adelaide Park Lands". Considering it's been a concrete plaza for decades I struggle to see how it can even be defined as parklands ...

Seems like a weirdly unnecessary loss of a heritage listed building to me. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but can't help notice the proximity of the Crows' new dining/bar venue and the convenient removal of the nearest competition for a left turn lane that doesn't really need to exist ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

It looks like the parks that are off the main corridor are being reasonably well looked after - probably because they have been handed over to councils to maintain (who are mostly well equipped to look after parks because that's part of what we pay our rates for). But the motorway corridor itself is ...

What's the point of having planning regulations if they're just going to be blatantly disregarded. I'm very concerned about the free-for-all state of affairs at SAPC.

Are our planning regs different to other capitals in regards to this sort of thing?
Perhaps the regulations should be ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

The updated detailed project map highlights so many flaws with this motorway design, I could write an essay.

I've stared at the Richmond Rd intersection for far too long and still can't work out how all the left and right turning lanes work. Plus I cant wait for all that passive green space to ...

Nope, the freighters land in overnight on reduced thrust where they can. Last night was definitely a 777 takeoff over the city

Freighters may use reduced thrust on landing, but that doesn't preclude a go-around which would rattle a few windows. So, it could have been either, really. I dare ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

At 4:40am a 737 freighter from Melbourne got close to landing before going around - that might have been the loud noise, it's what woke me up this morning. (edit - just realised the Air NZ flight landed quite a bit earlier)

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Thats a great point. If Melbourne airport can operate with just one main runway up until now, why would little Adelaide need a second?

I also think there would need to be a large underground metro infrastructure plan announced in conjunction if an airport to the north of the city was ever to ...

Keswick creek also isn't wide enough along a lot of it for more than one lane, so it would either have a relatively low max frequency as the direction swaps over, or would need a bunch of expensive and unpopular land acquisition.

West of Hisense stadium there's a section that's only 5-6m wide ...
