[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
Unless things have changed recently, there is still no system in place to display live data on the lantern. AFAIK (Note: this information was from the early days of the lanterns operation, and may have changed) the lanterns backend software (a commercial product called 'Hippotizer') takes video at 7...

[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
The following was written by a friend, and I am posting this on his behalf as I share the same views: Looking at the recent release of the Lantern Simulator by Fusion and the Adelaide City Council, I have to say I am absolutely appalled at the quality of work that has taken apparently taken 3 months...

Get a projector - It will be cheaper, will most probably use less power, and will have higher resolution than a LED screen.how_good_is_he wrote:Anyone know the brand and size...may get one for home...just to try to outdo my mates 60" plasma.

Re: Broadband of Choice in Adelaide?
The reason they have unlimited access is because the majority of their traffic comes from within either their own country, or that general area, which is heavily linked with fibre. The vast majority of our traffic comes from overseas, and hence has to get here via fibre owned by what is essentially ...

Re: Broadband of Choice in Adelaide?
256k isn't broadband, it's fraudband. Also, with the current situation regarding international data traffic providers and the lack of competition in that area, true unlimited broadband will not become a reality for a *long* time. If the PIPE PPC-1 cable gets finished it should lower prices a decent ...

Re: Broadband of Choice in Adelaide?
I'm on Internode, and heavily reccomend them over any other ISP. Their prices may be a little bit higher than Adam, but they make up for it with their exceptional service. They offer a heap of free content, and even free premium usenet access (note - free premium access, not free downloads on that o...

[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
I think one of the guys (Oli?) said they did a Tetris test already! I think that was Pong... anyway, at the moment the Lantern can't display dynamically generated content, so everything would have to be pre-generated. I'll be interested to see how they make dynamic input work with their Hippo-based...

[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
By simulator, I mean making a 3D model of the lantern, or at least a representation of it - and writing code to read in image data (be it frames of a pre-generated movie, or dynamically generated content), and display an approximation of how the input would look on the lantern. The aim is to make a ...

[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern
Hi Damien,
I spoke to one of your colleagues on the night, and she said that there would be a presentation of some sort giving information on how to create content for the lantern. Myself and many friends are extremely interested - when will this happen?
