Well each to their own opinion. But I liked it so much I put it in the site's new banner.
(Some say that that is a omen of misfortune since the last banner)

Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

$120m apartment tower approved
ADELAIDE’s tallest residential tower, the $120 million “123 Flinders”, has received final approval from the Development Assessment Commission.
Property developer Datong Australia has received written confirmation that it can proceed with construction of the 22-level building on the corner of Flinders and Pulteney streets.
Off-plan sales are expected to be available from mid-year. Apartments will range in price from about $300,000 to $1.2 million.
Datong Australia spokeswoman Dorothy Jiang said the group wanted 123 Flinders to be “a symbol of Adelaide’s progression”.
“The building will enliven the precinct and draw in people and businesses so that the area becomes a ‘must be’ place in Adelaide.”
Designed by Adelaide architecture firm Pruszinski Architects, 123 Flinders will comprise residential apartments, offices, restaurants and leisure areas.
The project was assessed under the CBD planning regime in place prior to the state government’s latest urban design reforms announced last month.
“We intend to partner with leading South Australian construction, engineering and design companies to ensure that 123 Flinders is of the highest quality and an asset to the city,” Jiang said.
“Datong intends to become a leading player in the development and rejuvenation of the Adelaide CBD.”
A completion date has not been announced.

nice looking building
will this go ahead surely or do they have to pre-sell most of the apartments first? could GFC impact?

Like just about everyone else on here:-
- I love the proposed building
- I hate the negative attitude of ACC
- I really hope it gets built, and as soon as possible
- I hope the ACC gets any powers at impedes development stripped from it; so conservative and miserly
Unfortunately, hope is not a strategy.

- This is the most positive ACC we've seen in years, decades even.
- Me too.
- The ACC does not assess any developments over $10m and hasn't done so for about 3 years now. Recent planning changes aim to reduce their powers even more, down to $2m.
Ben, I'd very much say that the GFC is still going on. Australia just has fortunately, not bore the brunt of it as badly. Have you not been following financial events in Europe lately?

real estate market has already flatlined too...sorry off topic
[CAN] Re: APP: 123 Flinders Street| 75m | 22Lvl | Mixed-Use
I work for a fund manager so I know it very well shuz haha what is going on in Europe is very different to the gfc. The gfc effected Australia although not as bad as most other countries. We are relatively immune to what happens in Europe. One of our chief economists put it into perspective recently when he compared the size of the greek economy to that of one American state. It really is that insignificant.
Anyway... Hope to see construction later this year.
