What's wrong with that?. It would make a nice change compared to other shopping centres.

They are actually going to paint the hideous U Park in a beige colour to match Rundle Place.

There's nothing wrong with having an all glass facade. Yes, it would have been different, but if that part of the building is department store then a glass curtain wall would not have been suitable. If it was a restaurant or offices, yes. As I haven't seen the interior plans I don't know what is behind the sandstone frontage...I am only assuming.

So they are actually painting a carpark facade in faux sandstone colour,...to match a new faux sandstone facade, to match ...the real sandstone facade on Regent arcade?? Dont get me wrong, I think blending in the horrible maroon carpark is an improvement, but we really need to get over the obsession with sandstone.Maybe clad the outside of the carpark with well ventillated glass curtain walling. Now that would look spectacular. Faux sandstone is even being used on the new Adelaide oval, when the heritage of the oval is red brick.

I've always found that bothersome too.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these stores especially the external facing ones (Apple) were to open by Christmas. the escalators are in and there is partitioning going in to separate the stores. fitout works could realistically commence within weeks.

The first glass on the office levels is currently being installed. It's highly reflective blue glazing. Only one panel is on, however it looks like high quality.
Walking on over....

The whole development is coming along quite quickly. When is it scheduled to open?

I noticed there's now a Coles "coming soon" banner up in Rundle Mall, a sign that the Coles tenancy has been handed over to Coles shopfitters!

This sounds promising, hopefully it looses the stumpy look. Should get it to around 90m!

Isn't that the old plans?, eg 19 storeys.

It would be great if it was made taller.

Unfortunately it remains at 15 levels. The confusion stems from the fact that the original DA was for a 19 level building. Likewise the approved DA is for a 19 level bulding. Subsequent to this the plans were changed with a reduction of 4 levels. However a new DA was not lodged but rather that change was made as a variation to the approved 19 level DA. Hence they are building this building using the approved 19 level DA.
