the best opinion one can have is one that is dynamic to the facts.

no point having an opinion which is factually incorrect.(if it is the case in this situation)

in terms of the small building next to this development, one day in 50 or 60 years (perhaps more)

someone will somehow make it viable.

Indeed.

If they do, I hope they manage to keep that little art deco facade (unlikely, I know...)
cheers,

Oh come now people, most members did not shed a tear at the demise of the heritage buildings that were razed to make way for this lovely piece of architecture. So no complaining now, you have what you wanted.

I can't really work out what people are complaining about (I don't see a blank wall in those pictures) but your argument is still fallacious.

Allowing the development, and wanting the development to be of architectural merit are two different issues, so there is no need to tut tut the board members who seek development in the Adelaide CBD.

What do you think this is? A bowl of goldfish?

That is two extremely large blank walls on the western side.

Because I am sometimes pro-heritage/pro-activated laneways does not mean I am anti-development Waewick. I am just seeking appropriate development, not development at-all-costs. But, now that we have the building, and at such a cost, it had better be worth it.

On my monitor it looks like half a wall of an interesting glass veil over windows and the other half covered in an interesting architectural treatment.

Maybe you need to adjust your monitor settings?

We will have to wait and see until it's complete then.

if it is dark glass panelling, fair enough. but judging by the shadow from the arcade dome on the wall in question, i'd say it is fair enough for any lay person to assume that it was rendered cement or something similar.

Seems like we need more hotel accommodation in Adelaide in March.

This weekend there was a shortage with Soundwave and the Clipsal 500 on at the same
time. Apparently some of the bands performing at Soundwave were forced to fly straight
to Perth after the event here because there was no accommodation available.

or maybe organisers could plan to have large events on different weekends throughout the year?
i dont want to stereotype here, but i would say that a lot of people who went to the clipsal would be metallica fans, who headlined soundwave.
