I think the Adelaide City Council have offloaded this one. It's no longer a U Park.

I used to use this carpark now and then when it was a Council carpark. You could access Rundle Mall via the old Harris Scarfes. The stairwells were horrendous (unsanitary) and lifts slow but the rates were good for a visit under two hours and the convenience factor, eg carrying bulky shopping and position, made it useful to the casual shopper etc,

Now it's no longer a U Park, rates are prohibitive for the casual shopper. I guess it provides a car park perk for the higher salaried workers in proximity and long term parking for those who are prepared to pay.

I usually use public transport for CBD journeys. At other times, eg on weekends or when I need to take the car (eg transporting bulky goods or providing transport for a relative with poor mobility), I use the U Park on the cnr of Pulteney and the Mall. It has great rates for short term parking, it's clean and bright and very convenient.

Kudos to the ACC for providing accessible/affordable U car parking for short term visits to the Mall and surrounds and the Central Market.

"Rundle Place" purchased the carpark and thankfully injected a little TLC parked there the other day and is a vast improvement on what was there. I really think its time Adelaideans give the Carparking thing a rest ... it is getting a little old ...we have it pretty easy really more than adequate on and off street parking. I live in the CBD and operate a CBD based business and Carparking is an expense we have to bear, but its a reality and consider myself getting off cheap compared to my Eastern Seaboard counterparts.

The Gold Coast is a city on the Eastern Seaboard, and parking there is free (at least for a couple of hours)!

Lets all pack up our bags and leave... Gold Coast also has an over supply of apartments an over supply of retail outlets and an under supply of tourists. You do the math.

The Gold Coast also realises it isn't sustainable having driving as the only feasible option to most places, hence the new light rail line under construction from Gold Coast Uni Hospital to Broadbeach via Surfers.

Yep was meant to open on the Grenfell St side, but to date there appears to be no action.

The whole front is covered though by a "Rundle Place watch this space" kind of advertisement, but it has been like that for a few months now.

Maybe there is work going on inside, not sure.

What would be the incentive to catch public transport if driving is cheaper, more comfortable and quicker. Dont know what they expect the utilisation to be?

It's probably more for the tourists and visitors rather than permanent residents

Wouldnt be surprised if Joshua Perdets(?) didnt last very long.

I walked through at lunchtime on Friday and Saturday, and there was literally not a single person in there.

Surely thats not sustainable in such a huge tenancy.
