[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
The AFL has announced the first showdown at Adelaide Oval will be hosted by Port Adelaide in Round 2 next year!
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
did they flip a coin? I guess that means Adelaide will host the first AFL match in Round 1...
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
There will be no round 1 game in Adelaide next season, both Port and the Crows will play away. The round 2 Showdown will be the opening AFL game at the redeveloped stadium.spiller wrote:did they flip a coin? I guess that means Adelaide will host the first AFL match in Round 1...

Sounds like Baulderstone just got a one week extension of time then! They may need it.

Awsome. Let's hope we can continue our tradition of success at Adelaide Oval with a win first up.Port Adelaide Fan wrote:The AFL has announced the first showdown at Adelaide Oval will be hosted by Port Adelaide in Round 2 next year!
This may have been discussed already, but will they be removing that tree(or trees) blocking the view from the southern stand looking back onto the city?

The lawn will be starting to go in at AO next week and will take 10days to put in.
[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
Think it's more to do with the AFL wanting to start the season earlier (so the NRL doesn't get a head start ) rather than an extension of time to complete the project.zippySA wrote:Sounds like Baulderstone just got a one week extension of time then! They may need it.

What do you all think is a pass mark for average footy criwds next year? Not counting sellout Showdowns.
The Crows must be aiming to average between 40,000 to 45,000 & the Power must get 30,000 to 35,000. As a Crows Member our crowds were pathetic this year at Footy Park. The key attendance gamed next year at Adelaide Oval will be the lower drawing clubs like GWS, Suns, demons etc. Crows got 27-31,000 this year but will surely need to get 35-38,000 in 2014.

It really depends on the stadium deal that both clubs get. That will determine the crowds they are aiming for.justinpa1 wrote:What do you all think is a pass mark for average footy criwds next year? Not counting sellout Showdowns.

Obviously they'd want to sell out every game, but that is unrealistic. The realistic target will be whatever sees them make a profit at each game.

40,000 at a minimum for the Crows. Anything under that will be pretty disappointing I'd have thought.justinpa1 wrote:What do you all think is a pass mark for average footy criwds next year? Not counting sellout Showdowns.

In 2006 we were averaging 40k at Footy Park, no reason why we can't achieve that with a brand new stadium.

Id be expecting 45-50k for Crows, and 35-40k for Port games average.

There is now a waiting list for crows memberships which has not been the case for the past few years so crows crowds should return to the mid 40's regularly and 35-40k for the lower profile games. As for Port i think look at the figures for this year and add 5-8k to it. So Port vs Geelong draws 25k (by memory) so at AO a crowd of 30-33k would be expected. That is of course is Port remain competitive else we might see a return to the under 20k crowds which would be very very disappointing for the PAFC.
I think there will also be a handy boost of opposition supporters from over the border

I still think an average 35-40k is pretty ambitious for Port.. I hope I'm wrong though? I reckon an average crowd of around 30k is more realistic.[Shuz] wrote:Id be expecting 45-50k for Crows, and 35-40k for Port games average.
