Anyone else noticed that the Superway is not in the 2014 edition of the UBD?

Nor is the Marion Road exit ramp on the Southern Expressway - I assume there is one?

McLaren Vale interchange is in there, though.
cheers,
Rhino

There's only the 'Expected completion 2014' bit from memory.

Estimated completion 2019 sounds about right then?

A couple of articles about the Superway, saying the reason it didn't open last year was due to weather conditions preventing surface works.
Southbound should be open this month and northbound next month.

Hmm, December rainfall looked pretty normal to me.

As of yesterday, barrier works on the southbound elevated roadway was clearly incomplete. The southbound service road under the Superway north of Grand Junction Road was also lacking the final seal layer to bring it to kerb level although this may be done after the Superway above is opened to traffic.

Was major works suspended over the Xmas/New Year fortnight ?
This wouldn't surprise.

Could have just as easily been heat suspending the works.

There's the potential for two ribbon cutting ceremonies given the northbound and southbound carriageways will be opened at different times.

From a political perspective, it's the first that will be the most important but it's late in the piece for the current SA government and may not make a lot of difference overall.

Previous opening 'date'was Dec 2013..Moan-vertiser says "one month delay" but is there a more accurate guesstimate than just 'late' Jan 2014?? Is that the 3rd or 4th week?
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

If the Gallipoli underpass is anything to go by, this will not be fully functional for some months yet. Although the elevated roadway may well be "open" , for some reason it appears that the landscaping and various other treatments will be going on for some time. This happened with Gallipoli, the road opened, then we had months of rediculous speed restrictions and lane closures as the design aspects were completed , paving, planting and cladding etc. For some reason the landscapers have deserted this project for a couple of months now, despite there being no apparent reason they could not have completed the Southern end by now.

Even so Claybro, if it's 60km/h the entire length, goes in a straight line and joins up to the Salisbury Highway, it's much better than the current conditions, and most motorists will be happy it's open.
Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

There was no work on the Superway from 20 December 2013 until 6 January 2014. Because the northbound and southbound carriageways are separated by crash barriers, and the landscaping is below the carriageway, I cannot see there being speed restrictions on the southbound carriageway whilst the remaining work is completed. I suspect that the landscapers aren't doing any work at the moment because it is so hot that anything they plant will just die.

Yes, these 22C, lightly drizzly days are taking their toll on my garden plants too.
